L’Avalanche du Colorado échange Alexandar Georgiev en remplacement de Darcy Kuemper. Darcy Kuemper et son camp ont rencontré Joe Sakic et n’ont pas pu conclure un accord. 1. Honestly, Sakic has robbed half of the NHL and built a cup winning team around a talented core. I do believe that Sakic has a plan with Georgiev, and he is probably looking to start robbing the NHL again this year of players, maybe even start getting some draft picks back.

  2. Darcy was a beast in the finals. There were some soft goals but he was solid against a great team.

  3. I am quite currlious what the oilers will offer kuemper and Toronto but I feel Megan is correct. He'll be an oil slick I bet.

  4. I didn't like this at first because it meant we got worse in goal, but as I think more on it, Frankie was 6-0 in the playoffs, so he's not a death sentence and the cheap contracts leave a ton of extra cap room to pay the other guys who are UFAs which means we may be able to keep two of the three second liners we have or Manson which may be more important than having a slightly better goalie. We'll see!

  5. Here we go boys!!!! We get our wish of a Frankie start next season!!! Let’s go!!!! Or an even spread over the season.. time will tell. I bet they’ll be spreading the first 20 games pretty even and see who performs best. This does mean the if Frankie does well he’ll take the spot. This is his big chance

  6. Colorado’s tender is a plug and play position. I personally didn’t want them to pay Darcy more than 4. Nowhere near 6m. Money better spent keeping Manson so that defence is equally as strong in front of whom ever they have in net.

  7. I love this so much. You can't confirm Darcy is worth 5 Mil for more than a year. I don't even buy the 'bad' playoffs thing. By all means the injury could have been a massive part of that, and he did have a great game 6 when we needed it most. I credit Kuemper for a solid year all around and a cup which is everything. But a second young option, cheaper, to go with Franky and Justus sounds way better to me with our current cap situation.
It is a risk, but you have the deadline still, and two guys who could step up before then, and Justus who could step up in another year or two. Whole roster wise this is the move right now, we saved for and need to find out what our cap looks like for the next two years in the next week, and Kuemp pricing himself out, and likely asking for too much term just wasn't a good fit. I now have dreams of Lekky, Nuke and Kads, along with a MacK extension done. Especially if Kads can sign with the understanding we will trade him in a year or two likely to someone he approves. If no kads we can sign Manson plus have room for a deadline center, goalie if need be.

  8. Imo, I think the way Byram and Manson played in the Cup run shows Girard to be expendable. If Joe traded Girard he could possibly swing it to keep (almost) every other player on the Cup team. What do the Avs have left 20 mil? Trade G straight up to a bad team for their (probably high) 1st round pick next year. That's 25m now. Nuke – 6?, Lehk – 4?, Manson – 4? Bura – 5?, Sturm – 2 = 21m. I don't know how you get Kadri with 4 but maybe they could trade someone else like Compher or EJ? idk

  9. But AJ you take Girard out and keep Manson instead. I don't hate Sam Girard, I just think the Avs won the Cup with Manson in G's absence. So I saw it work already, and I haven't seen the Avs win with G and not Manson.

  10. Joe is going to trade our 2023 first round pick for Patrick Kane with retention and we are going to win the cup again this year

  11. Avs won the cup with 2 backups goalies. They can do it again next year!

  12. People gotta understand. A lot of the avs UFA had career years. Kuemper nuke kadri burky.

Kuemper is 32 and wants to cash in. Georgiev is 26 and will only cost 2.6 million since he’s a RFA.

This just means Avs have 22 million in cap to sign everyone else. Kadri def won’t be back.

What if the avs sign zadarov

  13. Great trade, more money to get Manson signed. And the Avs System/D can make almost any goalie better. Would like to see Justus Annuen develop faster, and not lose more picks. But Super Joe is the best GM in the league for a reason.

  14. Sakic must be 1 smooth talking sob! "I'll trade you all the change in my ashtray & ½ of a leftover ham sandwich for Georgiev."

  15. I can personally do without that sinking feeling everytime a team took a shot against Kuemper and expecting it to get past him. Watching a goalie that you feel confident in is way better for the heart rate. Always liked Frankie though and the fans seemed to when he was in net as well. Interesting times ahead.

  16. Personally, I just don’t have much faith in Georgiev. I would have really liked to see the Avs offer Ville Husso a contract.

  17. Maybe Georgiev's morale was in chronic decline in New York. This organization (from Sakic on down) has a way of turning guys around and getting the best out of them… Big Val and Naz come to mind immediately. anyway I hope that by the playoffs next year he rises to at least "good enough to repeat" level!… I like this move– it's the kind of long play that makes Sakic a chess player in a checkers game. I have complete confidence that Bednar can properly manage the situation.

  18. Guess they decided one cup was enough for this core of players? Disappointing to say the least.

  19. Georgiev vs Kuemper vs Grubauer? Grub was a backup, that show himself up on Stanley Cup run with the Caps, Kuemp was great goalie on losing teams, Georgiev got out played by a Vezina winner. All 3 were or are projects, 2 of them are moving on because of great runs with Avs. Avs has a great core, probably best the league, this just another test. Talent can get you so far, as Grubauer seen, if you don't get right support through trainers, coaches and staff it can be rough. Wish Kuemper the best, the market is in demand for goalies, so you can blame him. One question he will be asked however, with Avs passing Grubauer, why are now "Stanley Cup" champions are now passing on you? So, it might not be a term or dollar amount many gm may not want to take a gamble on, especially the way the Kuemper camp likes.

  20. If he goes to Toronto, that's major pressure…even more than here last yr. Nothing he does-or they do in reg season means anything there. That was true last yr in Denver, but the scrutiny is much higher there. And they play in arguably the toughest division ever…& could be even deeper this yr with Detroit,& Ottawa. As good as Toronto is-they don't have remotely as good or deep of blueline as he had helping him here. They aren't bad,& better than 2 or 3 yrs ago in Toronto…but not close to the star power at the top-or depth we had this season 1 through 8,when Girard was healthy. We don't know exactly how any team will look-but they aren't gonna get THAT MUCH better/deeper on defense.

Obviously, hed face some pressure here. With this much talent,as defending champs,& blueline in Colorado that can't possibly be quite as deep as last season. But even if he fell flat on his face here-hed get more slack-winning that Cup takes the monkey off all their backs. It's still a gorilla in Toronto,& even Edmonton-to a lesser degree.Only completely missing the playoffs, would be a total failure here,& even then-theyd always have 2021-22. Nobody in Toronto will give 2 f$#%s bout the Cup he helped the Avs win. Only that they gave him 6 yrs at 6 million-or whatever. And he will get destroyed if they don't make ECFs minimum. Not true here anymore-they deserve some serious slack,by winning this summer.

I was as big of Kuemper defender as anybody last season. He was a top 5 goalie in reg season. But wasn't close to great in playoffs-especially after his injury. But he did his job…was good enough. Same playoff performance probably won't be good enough in Toronto, with a lesser blueline,& much deeper division/conference…& far more unfair scrutiny. I'll always feel about Kuemper-same way I'll feel about anybody else that leaves…love & appreciation for them FOREVER,& nobody can take away what they were part of. Can't wait for Kuemper-or any of them-to come back & they should be cheered by every Av fan. Also can't wait til they come back someday for anniversary celebrations-whatever.

But even as 1 of Kuempers biggest deffenders-I didn't feel comfortable shelling out 5-6 yrs. I'm good with trusting Sakic that this tandem can be good enough. Much rather chance it with what they did-than committing forever to Kuemper,or Campbell-or trying to outbid Minnesota for 38 yr old Fleury-who might just be average at this point in his HOF career. If it's a failure-theres always the deadline-or EVENTUALLY give Aninen his shot-though probably not til 2023-24,as you said.

  21. These ad reads are getting out of control. I fast forward the video 3 and a half minutes and the dude is still going on about getting a birthday card from a dentistry. Lol

  22. It's way too soon to tell. And, there are players that are willing to take a cut in pay because they want nothing more than to win a cup. Good to see Sakic picked up were laqoux left off

  23. Thank you Darcy!!! Cup champ!!! But now we look to the future: Frankie vs Georgiev!!I trust in Sakic!
