He was drafted when I was 4 and now I'm 23, and I can't imagine the Ducks without him but I guess I'm gonna have to get used to it. Thank you Ryan for all the memories you brought growing up watching you in North Orange County, you will be missed!

Just awesome when you see a guy play with only one organization, you don't see this too much anymore. He's got such a young family, and he'll be able to spend 100% of his time with them, Congrats man, well deserved!

I am a Stars fan. I have a ton of respect for Ryan Getzlaf. I always hated seeing the Stars play against him he was hard to play against. Great player. A career well done. Congrats on a great playing career Ryan.

Brown, Chara, and Getzlaf retiring. And we just lost Bossy and Lafleur. Bittersweet and sad times in hockey indeed.

The final piece of that incredible 2007 Stanley Cup team is now gone…it had to happen sometime I suppose. Luckily they have some young talent coming up. I think Fowler is likely getting the "C" next…at least until one of the young Ducks is ready.
The first time i watched a hockey game, i was about 6 years old. My mom had the ducks vs kings game on, they had an interview with getzlaf after and for some reason my 6 year old brain adopted him as my favorite player… fast forward to today, im 25 years old crying … thank you getzlaf… for making me a fan of this beautiful game.
He deserves that honor, what a class act.
