There's a reason everyone knew he was going to Edmonton other than tampering. It's called common sense. A team that made the conference final doesn't have any goaltender signed is going to be a buyer for goaltender. Not too hard to figure out. Also, going with his body of work, age, these things add up to a relative dollar amount and term given. Once again, not difficult to figure out.

Not every team in the NHL is hurting for money. I would guess most aren’t actually. The actual dollars owed being low on any particular contract probably isn’t as big of a deal as you make it out to be. It’s important yeah but is it really that big of a deal?
This signing is bad when you consider what Kase signed for in Carolina. I'd rather have Kase for 40 games a season than Jarnkrok for 82…
