Oh god, I loved Lindy in that moment
8:12–Marty should’ve f—king jumped on em right there! 👍🏻😄😄😄
Great deal to get Drury, should have gotten the 4 draft pick from Edmonton for Vanek
I like these retrospectives.
Went down a Chris Drury rabbit hole and ended up here. Brilliant job by the Sabres media team.
The Thursday Night Brawl, I remember watching with my pop 🖥
Drury was a list gem when we dropped him. Could have kept him 5 years and made a future rebuild. Sad
This was the first game my parents took me and my sister to. I was 8, she was 5. It was the greatest night of my childhood memories. This showed how connected everybody wearing the Buffalo sweater was. They all had each others' backs, and I'm happy to see the modern product redevelop that culture. Everytime I watch clips of this brawl on YouTube, I get goosebumps. It was unlike anything I've ever witnessed up to that point. That brawl had a pure and simple message attached to it; "If you fire at our captain, we WILL fire back." It is a shame that Ottawa ultimately got the last laugh in the Conference Final, but in that moment, the 6-5 shootout win, was poetic justice in every sense of the term.
P.S. My little sister got to see Ryan Miller play after Marty got tossed, so she was happy too.
I remember watching this game at home with my dad and brother and my dad just kept yelling "oh captain, my captain" after the hit on Drury. And I felt so much pride for my Sabres at how hard they fought back. They were my boys, my team
Golisano and Quinn ruined the team, they had a chance to sign him and Briere for cheap but they didn’t want to spend the money, I was in my bosses office with Golisano when he had the call from Darcy saying Briere wanted only 5 years for 5 million per year, Golisano said “F that little midget, i’m not paying his annuity”. Briere was walking and Drury was offered 4 years 22 mill but never send him paperwork
This was great for a laugh listening to the BS recollections of these goofballs on this Buffalo Sabres propaganda piece. We all remember what happened, you got your asses collectively kicked by the Senators. Ray Emery completely destroyed your goalie, and Peters didn’t do much better. RIP Emery, you were one in a million.
I wanna see the roundtable talking about Lucic running over Miller which subsequently led to the complete dismantling of the team and sent the franchise sputtering into a tailspin that lasted a decade!
Sooo great! Eye for an Eye.
Where were u guys when miller got ran over ?
No suspension for Neil, 100% would have been today
that was a beautiful hit by neil, keep ur head up kid 👏
Absolute douche bag play by Neil. Blindside hit on a superstar by a goon-this play is exactly what the sport didn’t need. Not sure if there was a major assessed for the hit, but it should have been a 5 minute major, and game misconduct followed by suspension. Did he ever get suspended for this cowardly hit??
Why no comment from Drury in this?
This type of breakdown of old fights need to happen way way way more often.
Chris Neil and Dale Hunter were two of the dirtiest players in modern NHL history.
I remember my Dad telling me Andrew Peters was only put on the ice to fight, and he was right😂
God biron got his ass whooped but I still appreciate that he wanted to fight an amateur boxer.
Goons!
Can’t wait for this rivalry to be renewed. It obviously won’t be as crazy, but it’ll still be good
Calling Chris Neil a dirty player is a joke. Over his immensely long career, he didn't get suspended a single game. The hit doesn't look good by modern standards but it was just fine at the time. Meanwhile the Sabres sent an enforcer after a goalie. Still, regardless of my views, it truly was a great rivalry at the time. I miss those days.
Why is this called "the Ottawa Brawl" and not "the Brawl in Buffalo"
I’m a Sens fan and remember that game so well. Dirty hit by Neil and to be honest, Spezza and company deserved everything they got. The one thing I remember the most was Emery (RIP) smile as he fought both Biron and Peters. The guy was so amazing to watch. Still can’t believe Murray (also RIP) sent out our scorers after that hit. I think it’s awesome that the people of Buffalo all pitched in to pay the players/coach’s fines…that I didn’t know about until now. Guess what though…Sabres and Sens are both going to be good teams for the next few years. Sens vs Sabres rivalry…the next generation or 2.0.
Hope Sabres fans can get that ice rink just as loud, was totally insane watching that on tv.
Wow
Why is the idiot J. White polluting my feed.
Jeremy ruins this
I remember sitting like 4 rows behind Ottawa bench and swing spezza and them guys coming over the wall and then looking and seeing peters kaleta coming out and I knew that it was going to get ugly
