I mean, can you really blame him? The $$ as a professional athlete is great, but I’m sure a lot of them also want to win a cup during their careers. If the leafs come up short and get eliminated in round 1 yet again, why would he want to stay?
Honestly if I was Willy or Marner I’d think twice about re-signing here considering the amount of vitriol levelled at them these past few years- at least for Marner there’s hometown incentive but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Willy didn’t have a particular connection to a fanbase that constantly says he should be traded out
