  1. If the hockey writers are an insider then I’m lady Gaga

  2. Rowdy_Roddy96

Dude is struggling to crack the roster much less a Top 6 Role I think I was right in saying that it might be time to consider him as a Trade chip

  3. Stevet159

He’s struggling to make the team at this point, and we have two forward injuries. Maybe we’ll see something soon but to me he’s a non factor until he does something noticeable.

  4. He’s going to struggle to make this exact team only because his development has been shot the last three years because of COVID coupled with having some really good depth pieces that would otherwise be lost on waivers

  5. Sonicboom343

I think Malgin is currently in a better position to take that 2LW spot

  6. BlueLuxin

Blazing hot take. The dude who struggled in the prospect tournament probably wont make top 6. Shocker

  7. FutureAnybody

I think that’s fairly easy to see at this point. Are we all insiders then?!

I don’t really understand the impatience. He was the youngest player in the 2019 draft and nobody in that draft after Robertson has cracked an NHL roster full-time as far as I know. He turned 21 a couple weeks ago, there’s absolutely nothing wrong or abnormal with him playing another year, or even two years, in the AHL.

Just let the kid play in the AHL. Nothing wrong with that. No need to rush him to be nothing.

I mean this should be known to anybody that watches the Leafs. Or hockey for that matter. Nick needs 2 more seasons in the ahl before he should even be considered for top 6.

Not tryna be a hater but he’s really just not an nhler right now. He wouldn’t be the first to have an outstanding junior season and perform in the AHL and not cut it. The guys a giant “maybe” for me. He’s not sure enough of a thing to really take him into account for future plans for the team. If he puts it together great, but I think everyone should be open to the idea that he won’t. I wouldn’t even call him a bust because he’s a 2nd rounder so those guys typically don’t make it, but for all the hype we had around him I think the word can still apply. Too small, not dynamic enough. Tenacity and a shot aren’t enough. Prove me wrong Nicky Bobby !

Let him play in the AHL. Give him the Lily treatment, let people think he’s a bust/stagnated. So in a year and a half when he’s a middle 6 producer people can get excited for him all over again.

Wow a 21 year old will struggle to crack the top-6 of a team with cup aspirations?! Who would’ve thought

  14. Nylanderthal_604

He just turned 21 ffs. Yo-yoing him in the bubble and bubble szn has put unrealistic expectations on the kid.
Let him dominate the AHL and put up a ppg and force his way on the team.
Better off giving a guy like Malgin whos older and don’t have waiver free status to rotate in the open spots and see if anyone sticks with some of the other guys in camp.
I guess while JT’s out he should play, but the expectations should be to dominate the A

Robertson had to knock their socks off to make the team out of camp. Leafs probably don’t wanna lose guys like Malgin on cheap contracts on waivers at the start of the year when they can just put Robertson in the AHL for the time being, and if he really wows he can be a mid-season call-up.

  16. The_Dale_Hunters

No doubt. I’d be happy if he just has a full season in the minors and finds consistency there.

  17. secondacctlmao

Give Nicky Bobby a full AHL season and just watch. I’m predicting 45 goals, 80 points in 72 games for him. (If he doesn’t suffer an injury/illness and doesn’t get called up)
