As a Kings fan, I honestly don’t believe LA will ship Byfield out. His production is slow because Danault came to town & took over his 2nd line center spot which put him down to 3rd. LA won’t trade Byfield & Clarke maybe even Kaliyev is a no-no. They have so much Center depth that I think for starters they’ll start at a package surrounding Alex Turcotte & a 1st Round Pick. My realistic trade for this to happen would be Alex Turcotte, Cal Peterson, Ahkil Thomas & 2023 1st. LA needs to make cap space to take on Kane’s salary that’s why I threw in Peterson.

I do not want to see Kane leave, but thinking about a Fiala x Kopitar x Kane line could actually be incredible. That line would be a living hell to play against.
i have apprehension about this trade idea, not for any hockey play reasons, but simply because Kane's choice of jersey number creeps me out. like even if its a totally innocent choice. gross. i would not want to see that number in a kings jersey.
I don't like that trade for LA. I think Kane is obviously better short term but giving up Byfield and another 1st is a lot for a guy on the wrong side of 30 for 1 year. Maybe if Kane signs an extension but even that could be potentially hazardous.
As a Kings myself I would not like to see this trade because Kane is old and Byfield is very young.
Not worth it, not for one season of Kane. Byfield is barely 19 give him a chance. Coach him up, for gods sake!!
As a neutral party I wouldn't trade Byfield alone for 1 year of Kane. I understand Kane is a great player. But he's only signed for 1 year, for a team that isn't a true cucontenders, not at all a fair trade.

Why trade a big, young, talented center for a player who's making 10.5M and his best days are behind him? Nevermind the fact that Kane doesn't create as much offense as you might think he does, but his defense is absolutely God awful, it's basically 5 on 4 in the defensive zone.

As a Kings fan there's no way we should make this trade. I get the upside of Kane , but Byfield is our future. I feel like this trade will have horrible ramifications for us in the future. One of the most crucial points of drafting these young guys together is letting them gel. That takes time and patience. There will be a point where are cap space will open up when Doughy and Kopitar are off the books (or resigned for less) If at that point we feel to need to trade for a stud we can do so then.
The first thing that comes to mind is Cap Space. The value of Byfield is centered around potential and his potential value today is enough for a trade for Kane straight up. As a Die Hard KINGS supporter, I would absolutely trade Byfield for Kane. Byfield has "potential" but holy heck, he does not skate like a NHLer and has shown that he is an American League player. Byfield cannot have the success as Malkin because the game has changed so much since 2006 and a big body must play below the dots and Byfield refuses to do so.
