Those RBK goalie pads were so iconic. Every goalie in minor hockey at the time had that pair.

That Alfredsson goal was particularly heartbreaking for me that year. Despite having a better record than 05-06 and winning the President's Trophy I knew we weren't as good a team as the previous year. And going into the playoffs I knew Ottawa was gonna win the East, they were the team I didn't wanna face I knew they were gonna beat us. And when it got 3-0 I knew it was just a matter of time 'till it was over. Hearing the call on the Alfredsson series winner kinda broke my heart. It was even worse knowing it was coming you know

I miss the old Senators. Alfredsson, Heatley, Spezza, Chara, Hossa, Varada, Bonk, Vermette, Volchenkov, Havlat, Emery, Lalime, Corvo, Eaves and Neil.
That was the peak of that Sabres team. It went on a gradual decline shortly after.
Ottawa was too physical for Buffalo this series.

As a Senators fan, watching this game at my aunt and uncle's house in Ottawa is probably my favourite NHL-related memory ever.

Ah man, I remember when I first moved to Buffalo at 8 years old and started to fall in love with sports, the air around this Sabres team was so electric. Now I’m about to be 24 and haven’t seen the Sabres in a playoff game since before I was teenager. Sigh.. they’ll get back there someday, right? At least we got the bills
