I can’t imagine sending a 2022 first round pick for a rental. I love Giroux, I love what he can do, but I absolutely would not give up a pick like that for Giroux. Count me out
I think Giroux is most likely going home to the senators, playing in front of his home city, but the sens need to trade Tierney, Zub (maybe), Paul and a pick to afford him if not enough, add Colin White

Kessel was better than giroux before the penguins sent him to die on those garbage desert hockey teams. For the value you might be able to get a more motivated kessel in a good situation. A 3rd rounder vs a 1st and 2 young dudes. To me that is a no brainer

Maybe the Rangers trade for him. He would make them as good as any of the top top teams in that Conference. I’m no Rangers fan here but I think he fits in with the Rangers better than Colorado, St. Louis and Minnesota.
Philly will never get that for Giroux. I know. I have lived in Philly for 70 years. Seemingly good trades and draft picks have not gone well for teams in this city. Flyers need a sniper.
Panthers will acquire Claude Giroux
1st, Compher, and one of Barron, Helleson, or Behrens. Maybe the Avs can keep the 1st if Barron is the prospect.
(a) the salary is $6.8 mil for Kessel, $8.275 for Giroux – not the huge difference mentioned.
(b) Giroux is a top tier face-off man
(c) Giroux kills penalties, Kessel is a liability in the defensive zone.

If Giroux gets moved he will be a centre not a winger , Giroux is far better than kessel so asking for alot more for Giroux makes sense!!
I guess I am the only one who has NO clue as to where or even if he is traded he ends up. I can't SPECULATE as to what team wants him and what they would give up. Me, I just wait and see what happens because whatever it ends up to be it is what it is. Guess that makes me a really bad hockey fan.

People mention how Foligno went for a 1st and 4th but Taylor Hall went for a 2nd and Andrés Bjork (who’s not much) so time will tell.
I see Giroux fetching a late first and not too much else. Maybe a 3rd or 4th but the latter pick will simply be to outbid another team team offering a 1st
The big leg up teams get with Giroux is his face off taking ability. Not to mention he is a very solid special teams player. That’s the only reason I think he’s significantly more valuable
