I’m with your sentiment on wanting the known prospect in another team’s pipeline as part of the return on Hertl as opposed to draft picks only. It’s too easy to swing and miss with what will most likely be picks outside of the top 20. I’d hate the return on Hertl to be the equivalent of Mirco Müller and Nikolay Goldobin. Hell, Boston had 3 1sts in the same year and still managed to drop the ball.
Probably looking at 1 top prospect, a 1st, and a salary dump veteran, although his contract probably works for most teams as it is.
Being around 17th ranking in NHL prospect pools after sucking for 3 straight years is embarrassing. After 3 years we should be top 10. Management needs to commit to a full rebuild. Sharks can't afford to be bad for another 3.

What Is not being mentioned is the players departing over the last few years is forcing this rebuild that should have took place in 2018-2019. If it would have happened then, this organization would be emerging from it now instead of just starting it. This retool on the fly or whatever they called it was not effective and cost the team potential players, draft picks, fans, money and reputation. I don’t think they’ll ever admit it but IMHO it was a failure.

The future is a middle of the pack/sub .500 team. They need a rebuild so bad, if you announce a rebuild maybe some of these guys waive their no movement clauses. Fans are fed up with Wilson, time for a change
