  1. You can see the huge increase in the drafting quality once Kekäläinen took over in 2013. Guy is a gem when it comes to scouting. He basically drafted the core players of the Blues' SC winning roster during his time as their head scout. Guys like Pietrangelo, Perron, Tarasenko, Binnington just to name a few. His track record for drafting for the Sens (back when they were a contender), Blues and Jackets has been top notch in the NHL. He even passed on a fellow fin Puljujärvi to pick Dubois. Genious.

  2. Do you think Columbus retires Bob's number eventually? Do we think Bob will eventually be remembered as a Blue Jacket or Panther/other?

  3. Don't even let me get into the politics about billionaires bilking the public.

  4. I will rage if Columbus is able to "rebuild" their draft picks quicker than the Canucks are able to make it past the 1st round.

  5. We were a total disaster when Howson was our gm. Jarmo has completely changed the franchise. Our drafting under Howson was awful looking back at it

  6. As a Columbus fan, the first thing I want to say is that Jarmo knew exactly what he was doing. It was more important to establish the new identity of the Columbus Blue Jackets as a competitor and a winning franchise than it was to “play it safe” and just trade our assets away and try to plug holes as the ship went down. It was 100% the right move to gamble and see if Panarin would re-sign. Unfortunately he just yanked us around and then left for less money. But making some noise in the playoffs was exactly the right move, it put eyes on us and pros are realizing that Columbus is hungry, and that is exactly the type of reputation we need whenever we end up in a situation like this, when we need someone to want to come here and sign in free agency or as an RFA.

  7. Torts is the coach to take the Jackets all the way. Seth Jones is proving to be an amazing pickup, and I love to watch him play. Honestly, losing Bob is devastating, but wish him the best of luck in Florida.

  8. Love the original jersey. Even tho the logo is weird it still bring back many memories going to the games as a kid when they had those jerseys

  9. I was so gutted when cleveland didnt get this franchise.I know they lost the barons in the late 70's,but i think NE Ohio is ready for another nhl team!

  10. I am been following the Jackets since the beginning and I am extremely critical of them in the last few seasons. I think it's actually about time for fans to think about giving up on them, strange as that may sound. I think there's a fine line between being a faithful fan and being a sucker. I think it's it's starting to get into the realm where fans are being suckers for supporting a team that seemingly can't go anywhere. I don't think it's the fault of the franchise per se. But I think that any business be it a sports franchise, a hardware store, or a restaurant that isn't successful doesn't deserve public support.

  11. You are really thorough when you come to analyze a team . I salute that. For CBJ when all out last year fo the cup but right now they will suffer because Duchesne , Bobrovski and Dzingel are gone. So they will struggle to make the playoff again still a few good player in Columbus like Seth Jones, Warenski, Cam Atkinson. They will probably be out of the playoff this year. But we never know . The only thing saving them they are in one of the weakest division in Hockey right now.

  12. The playoff drought caused by some of the worst drafting ever in their first 10 years, and the bad trades made during that period (Jeff Carter trade was the worst).  I blame it all on Doug Maclean GM and a pocket book that was too small.  I hope they don't start sliding backwards since JD up and left the franchise.

  13. At one point they had traded most if not all of their first round picks after a couple years trying to improve the team (Voracek is example).  Couldn't afford to wait on their development because the team was always spinning its wheels.

  14. Today (Jan. 2020), one can see they badly miss Panarin's scoring. they're very near the worst in total goals against. Last time I looked he had 48 points. Have to wonder how far up the standings that would have pushed them in the Met. They have several guys having "off" years so far (scoring), and lately have been hit hard with injuries. They're currently playing with 5 callups from Cleveland.

  15. It’s crazy looking at how one little trade at the time can end up being a big deal for a franchise years later.
