La ligne de connexion française des Sabres de Buffalo (1973)
D’une compilation de bobines de films 16mm « NHL Action » de 1973, dont cet extrait se retrouve à la fin des faits saillants Canadiens-Sabres du 12 avril de cette année-là.
In Buffalo NY, I had the pleasure of going down to the Aud and seeing both Orr (Boston) play Perreault (Sabres). Wayne, I think your great… but Bobby Orr and Gil Perreault were the best hockey players I ever saw play. Both were humble and classy. Both were pond skaters. Another thing they have in common: from what I can tell, both Orr and Perreault skate a bit bow legged. Hockey was great then. No advertisements on the boards, no helmets, enforcers to keep the players honest. Yes, the players today are faster and stronger. They take care of themselves all year round. But is hockey better? You answer that one yourself.
Two things the NHL must do before I buy another ticket: 1. Make the net bigger. 2.Make the rink bigger.
Gilbert Perreault has always been one of my all time favourites. He skates like the wind ala Orr, Lafleur, and Pavel Bure…had a fantastic shot like all three…fantastic stick handling similar to you know who. One more thing…that FABULOUS original Sabres logo! ‘Gotta get me a number 11 road jersey one day🏒🥅
as a french canadian, I always find insulting the americanization of other nations names… Gil Perreault, Rick Martin, Ray Bourque, Vinny Lecavalier, Danny Brière, Marty Brodeur, Genny Malkin, Slava Fetisov, etc…. But then, coming from such a self-centered nation, why am I surprised?

Gilbert perreault was a bigger, faster jean believeu..
The Sabres French Connection Line usually had their best games against the Canadiens, Maple Leafs and the Russian Teams.
I wish I can get my flux capacitor working and I can bring these guys back and show the players of today what real hockey players look like
RIP #14
Rest in peace Rene 💔
I miss Rene Robert, I’m making him a birthday tribute on December 31, 2021
I wanted to meet him in person but now it’s too late
