  1. Great deal, Val is a two way player, physical, very good skater (got way better at that this year), and will play on the first line. You can ask for Kane or Malkin all you want but I'm sure the locker room is strong and the chemistry is there already. As the years go by, when he'll be 32-33 Val will always be at least a great defensive player.

  2. Wow!!!! 8 years?!!! Damn bro. Thanks Mackinnon money. I wonder what Nate will get…. Probably same time but 80M. But look, valeri works as hard as anyone. He’s a monster. And I think with a contract saying “we value you” he’ll get to the next level. He will work even harder. I hope he stays focused and can deliver🔥🔥🍻🍻🏆🏆

  3. It’s a perfectly fine deal. He was easily going to reach 8 on the open market. 6 for Val is great.

  4. Val held TB in their own zone for like 45s BY HIMSELF. Fucking crazy monster.

  5. Definitely worth the money. Was hoping it would be for less only because Mac and Toews are going to command some serious cash in the next couple years.

  6. Kotkaneimi makes 6 mil and James van Reimsdyke makes 7 mil. Nuke is miles better than both. He also had 9 goals in 20 playoff games. The more he plays the better he is. He’s starting to find his untapped potential and he’s going to be scary for the rest of the league

  7. If the Avs had let him walk for the contract he signed for, most fans would be pissed they didn't make that offer.

  8. Awesome! I was about to buy a Kemper autographed pic but when I heard he’s no longer with the AVS I figured no. I have a plaque of Roy and would love to have it autographed. Anyone provide a know how to accomplish this? Fan from day 1 of the AVALANCHE 👍

  9. Anyone remember Terrell Davis? His strength was that his motor only got stronger as the game wore on. Val has that special gift to grind the opposition down with his motor, power and relentlessness.

  10. His career trajectory reminds me a bit of Todd Bertuzzi. He is a skilled power forward and he's not reliant on a whicked wrister like Burky.

  11. I don't mind the AAV. I had 6mil in mind. The length bothers me. 5 or 6 years is what I was hoping for. 8 years takes him to 35. We could see some diminishing returns on the last 2-3 years of that contract, but like Jesse said, he has gotten better every year since he came to Colorado, so who knows. But it also could be a career year that he never matches again(dear God hopefully not or that deal is awful).

  12. There were many nights where Val was the avs best player. 8 years is a little scary but you gotta do what you gotta do

  13. Everyone just watched this guy dominate the playoffs and finals right? He was unstoppable. If you want quality players you have to pay them money. Everybody acting like because in their head he was worth x that we overpaid lol

  14. lol massive overpayment for a guy who scored a lot of lucky fluke goals. I hope they keep overpay rest of their UFAs and be in a cap hell in next 10 years.

  15. Glad he's on our team, and will be for quite some time…somebody else gets to analyze financial details and manage the team budget.

  16. If I was Val I wouldn't be making any more trips back to the 'Motherland'. Might end up conscripted…

  17. Sticker shock like everyone, but I look at it is $500k for the intangibles and $500k for being a massive role in our Cup win. Lets do it again!

And I know we cant quantify it, but soooo much value is put on his defensive abilities. If his offense dips a little (and I stress a little to 40-50 pts instead of 50-60) and he's still the holy crap shutdown guy, its worth every penny.

We all should hope we have the Blackhawks problem in 6-7 years.

  18. I heard him compared to Peter Forsberg and as an avid Forsberg fan who watched him in his prime, I strongly agree. Nichushkin is strong on the puck, he's a large 2 way player whose great on defense and has a strong forecheck, but his goals are more scrappy than flashy. Just what this Avs team needs.

Obviously he isn't the offensive phenom that Forsberg was but I feel if you compare the core hockey categories they line up closely.

  19. Especially with the cap increase in 2025 this seems more than reasonable, even more so if he continues like he did last season. But between 6.1 for Nichushkin, and probably 10+ for Nat when the time comes to extend that contract… and how much Cale is probably gonna cost in the long run… that's no small amount off the cap lmao

  20. The chuchu train is an integral piece of the Avs success. He is one of the best two way forwards any team
    Can have.
