I think what Kidd wants yo happen is for Wood to come of the bench and dominate the 2nd unit them with a shortened playing time he can be with Luka in crunch time to showcase his offense and defense in the end game

Big mistake I think. Wood needs to start. I don't care what position you call it, he needs to start.
Luka is one of those guys who is going to fill the stat sheet each night. He can put the ball in the bucket, rebound, throw pinpoint dimes and get some steals in the passing lanes. That's why this year I see him averaging 32, 10, and 9 with 1.3 steals. This is definitely a stat line he can average and his steals could even be higher but I just see him putting more effort in on the offensive side to put this team on his back (no slight to Wood, Hardaway.jr , etc).
I think Luka could win the scoring championship this year. Probably gonna average like 30-32 points a game. He plays at his own pace and it’s so hard defend. It’s almost like he’s in slow motion but it’s so effective. The mavericks should be top 4 seed in the west this year for sure.

I have Luka as the MVP this season and i think it will be because he will have a solid all around team. His numbers will probably go do a bit along with his historic usage rate. MVP season with avgs of 27.8 – 7.6 RPG – 8.2 APG.
Despite coming off the bench…C. Wood will come in early every night and will end up with more minutes than JM. The Mavs actually having a great front court will now give them much needed second chance shots….something they desperately lacked, especially in the Western Conference Finals last year. MAVS gonna win it all this year.
Luka Doncic has been one of the top scorers in the first quarter in the entire league so it makes sense to put rim protection around him during that stint. Having C-Wood on the court at the same time could be a waste and he´s better off when Luka hits the bench for the first time in a game. I wouldn´t be surprised if they put Maxi next to C-Wood when McGee sits. J-Kidd always said "McGee is going to be the starter for the beginning of the season" so that might change.

JKidd said that CWood will not start for now, it doesn't mean he will not start for the whole season. JB didn't start until Feb, and Bullock didn't start until March. Everything can change.
This is "prove it moment" for CWood if he will prove that he can put same numbers on winning team and buy in to JKidd defensive schemes then I'm pretty sure he will be moved to starters – probably as 4.
Javale McGee was playing on Lakers team with Vogel and JKidd, so JKidd already knows what he can expect from Javale and he knows Javale will adapt in no time.
Start Christian Wood. It's silly to not do so. He's an 18-10 guy. They need to recognize the work that Wood has done to earn his spot as a starter in this league. If the Mavs can't recognize this, they are risking pushing him away in free agency next year. Why would he want to re-sign with them if they can't give him the role and minutes that he has earned? I wouldn't if I were him. We lost Brunson last year. Do we want to lose Wood this year?

JMcG has a contract clause that guarantee him starting in certain amount of games. This is the whole reason. Once this number will be reached – CW will start every game. I expect CW to spent more time on the floor than JMcG, even starting from the bench.
