Good to see Elliotte looking like he just got out of bed. Too many of these analysts look like they're on American Idol and someone just hooked them up with a new wardrobe that doesn't suit them.
I'm glad he got paid. But I think Colorado is the only place he puts up the numbers he did. He's not going to be on a line with a legitimate star first line player like Rantanen anywhere else to collect those points.
This isn't too bad a deal. They get Kadri instead of Monahan for 500k more for two years(so think of that as an underpayment), then 5 more years at 7 million per, which will be an overpayment for 2 years(maybe 3). All for likely a late first. There have been way worse overpayments for coveted free agent centres.
Why all the media fuss over this B-list player? Oh yes, I know, he used to be a Leaf.
Let's talk about how teams that replace alot of their top players it takes a year or two for chemistry to develope.

Kadri is a McDavid shutdown master. The battle for Alberta is gonna be exciting. Oooo Evander Kane ….it's gonna be insane.
Kadri thrived with more time and being in the spotlight when MacKinnon, Rantanen and Landeskog were out. He could do really well in this situation, Huberdeau is a better replacement for Gaudreau imo, and Lindholm will thrive with him as a linemate.
I heard Colorado offered him 4 year at 24 million, so $6 million AAV, looking at Sakic's recent signings, he doesn't want to pay anyone 35+ lots of money.
Elliot actually looks better with that unkempt, beard look. His face doesn't bug me anymore

As an Oilers fan I loved that Tkachuk and Gaudreau left but I think they may be a better team now.

i think huberdeau is a better player than tkachuk… and centermen are more important then winger.. so i think calgary is better now than on july 1st

So Cgy spent a lot of money to get back to a "respectable"team but still a NON cup contender.Finishing higher in the standings but still not a contender equals a poor draft pick which seems they dealt that poor draft pick to mtl to get them to take Monahan.The problem doesn't end not having a good first round draft pick but they are now again near th salary cap which means this team cannot improve any further,this is your team enjoy.
Looking at LAST years numbers is very foolish because they are all on different teams in different playing situations different players around them it is not even close to the same.One player that can be critiqued is Monahan because he is likely to not even play for some time so if they can add a player that will at least play it is a bonus.
I am not a Weegar fan i think he is very average and Huberdeau is not a big goal scorer and you need goals to win.Kadri played way over his head so again your getting less.
Now Johnny hockey imo also played above his head but Tkachuk is the key he is imo a cog to build a team around and can most certainly repeat as a 100+ pt player.
