Yeah we’re in agreement here, I wouldn’t trade the number 2 unless it’s part of a Matthew Tkachuk package.
I like Miller alot and would trade for him separately with other assets.

The only way I’d think this possibly works for us is if we can get Quinn Hughes. Even then though, it can’t just be him. honestly I’d just prefer the devils to use the pick but if they decide to take the trade route it would need to be Hughes and like a first for me to be happy.

Love the content man! I share the same opinion. Just draft the BPA and play it safe. If we make a trade fitz absolutely has to hit a home run or else it will put the franchise even further back in the rebuild imo.
I really think this is all smoke and mirrors. Fitzgerald did this last year as well. Fitz is that flirty girl who wants all of the attention but doesn't put out. JT Miller is a really good player but he's more of a 60-70 point player than the 99 he put up this season which is the first time he's done it. You don't trade away an opportunity to get Slafkovsky, Wright, or Cooley for a player pushing 30. There will be options in the offseason (Johnny Gudreau) that they can go after where the NJ Devils still keep their pick. Also Fitzgerald was asking for a Muzzin level trade offer for Severson at the trade deadline, I can only imagine if inquired he would ask the Canucks front office to move Heaven and Earth for the #2 pick in the draft along with any other players they were interested in. History tells us, this won't happen, and The Devils will be making their pick in July.
I hope Chicago makes DeBrincat available, and they devils go after him.
Just like how you said at the end of the video. I think this is all speculation and such. I don’t see why they would invite Slaf and Wright to NJ today for a visit if they weren’t serious about taking the draft pick. I truly believe we will end up drafting Slaf and he will be an impact player from Day 1 without a doubt. I’d rather see us trade out Smith, Zacha, and a 2nd for a big name player like Marty Necas from Carolina or if it’s with Vancouver for Boeser. I just hope we pick this kid, he has the swagger and skill and power/strength that hasn’t been seen in a little while.
The only players I’d like to see a trade for are Tkachuk or Meier. I don’t see how trading for Quinn Hughes or Pettersson moves the needle as much as one of those 2 young wingers. Thanks for the great Devils content!
There is absolutely no way that Quinn Hughes gets traded. Especially for Slafkovsky. Boeser and 15th for the devil's #2. That's the most the Canucks should give up. The top 5 in this year's draft, would be top 25 in next years draft.

I think the devils want to see what Montreal does first when their first pick. If a trade were to happen, it’ll be when they’re on the clock

As a long-suffering Canucks fan, I can tell you Quinn Hughes isn’t going anywhere, The Canucks defense is already weak WITH him in the lineup.

Slavkovsky is being called Rick Nash LITE, NO THANK YOU. The pick is still Cooley, especially since the scouting report is saying he’s great on face offs as well.

Petey,Quinn and Demko are major untouchables. JT Miller had insane chemistry with Quinn and likely would with the other two brothers and bring a veteran presence that NJ needs to push out Boston or Washington in the east…

If Fitz sent our 2OA to Vancouver for JT Miller, he would be dragged out of the Prudential Center and fired immediately. Not happening. Devils are taking Slafkofsky if Montreal doesn't.
Slafkovsky is FAR from a sure thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bechCn_VrG4 check out this scouting breakdown. I like him, but he is NOT a super physical power forward. He is more of a finesse forward who happens to be huge. There is a major difference. Can he learn to use his body better? Sure, but do not expect Peter Forsberg. What he most definitely can do is shoot the hell out of the puck. He might be perfect on Hughes' wing eventually, but he is not going to immediately score 25 goals next year.

Quinn hughes isn't going anywhere, we've been waiting for a d man like him for 30 years.. i wouldnt trade him straight up for the number 2.. the devils seem to be thinking of possibly going for it now. they have lucked out on so many high picks. its time to do something before they have to pay all these young players.. you cant keep them all.. Miller is a prototypical playoff type player.. yes he is getting older.. i wouldnt give him term at a high cap hit.. whoever trades for him if we don't sign him are going all in
Canucks need cap space and Rutherford has made that known publicly. Boeser is the likely piece involved for the 2OV and maybe even Garland or Myers. Imo Boeser would be a great fit for the Devils with centers Hughes, Hischier and Zacha. He hasn't had chemistry with our forwards in Van. Miller, Horvat, Petterson and Garland all love to shoot. Boeser has a great wrist shot and is a beast on the PP. He can one-time and stand in front of the net.

Here’s a question, say this is true and the Devils have a trade in place to move him say in either a Peterson, Hughes deal. Major shake up maybe both plus or minus the 15th and Demko for the Devils 2nd, Smith and Zacha or other options. What happens is the 2nd pick is Wright? What trades do you think this option opens up?
Hughes won't be going anywhere besides I think Montreal takes him at 1st.
