  1. We all know yzerman never tips his cap. TO ANYONE! I doubt these betting bafoons know anything about who the rd wings are targeting. Fedorov will most definitely not be the next coach especially when he has years left on his KHL coach contract.

  2. Have you heard the rumors about Debrincat? I think that would be a good thing to report on.

  3. Save your money, The owner Mike Ilitch sat down with Fedorov and offered him 50 million for 5 seasons or a 4 year 40 million contract and he turned him down. Then he signed a 5 year 40 million deal with Anaheim. The owners and team took it personally and they haven't even retired his number. So him being hired as the coach. Don't think so.

  4. There are articles about why it absolutely won’t happen. Same reason his number is not in the rafters. He fleeced the wings twice. And people who are older fans and for sure the management and Yzerman remember.

  5. Romantic notion but I don't think it's happening – Derek Lalonde is the man, Bolts assistant coach, hired by Yzerman. Look at his track record and you'll see why – the guy knows how to win and turn teams around. As the Bolts are still playing he's out of bounds but as soon as the Bolts finish then a move will be made rapidly. Fedorov would be an appointment from the heart not the head IMHO.

  6. Feds as a coach in the nhl would be awesome i dont really remember how good his English is though and thats kinda a big need

  7. I Love Federov! I have both home and away jerseys. This will NEVER happen!!
His jersey won't be retired, but he is going to be the next coach???
The Illitch family would never let this happen, but if anyone could make this happen it would be The Captain. In Steve we trust! Go Wings!

  8. He has 2 more years of contract with CSKA Moscow. He said that he didn't even think about NHL with how spontaneous he had to be a coach in CSKA.

  9. Hey Leggo, Respect what you do, but take it from someone who's home rink is the Grand Rapids Griffins Ice House. I can tell you right now there is one huge reason This will never manifest. That one reason is Called " Chris Ilitch". Federov disrespected Mike Ilitch and the Wings Organization not once but twice. Not sure if you where even born yet, but yeah man we have not forgotten, nor has Mr, Ilitch or Steve Yzerman. Do you wonder why his #91 Jersey is NOT and will probably never hang here? I'm sure you are aware, I know your better than that.

  10. There is zero chance Fedorov is the next coach, or DeBoer for that matter.

  11. Sergei Fedorov was for me an ideal hockey player, one of the smoothest and fluid skaters, if not the ultimate ideal of a skater.
Russian hockey school produces steadily fantastic skaters but Fedorov was on different level.
Watching his skating was indicative of how he took the advantage of his body construction, training and understanding the physics that define skating.
He was more of a glider than anyone else, using his edges as not to interfere with the ice surface, just using it as a platform to glide on the water that we actually skate on if things fall into place.
Yes, there were and there are great skaters who can be very smooth and fast at the same time, but Fedorov was one entire level above anyone else.
Besides that, he was just as good of a defender as he was a forward, and could apply his body strength when needed, but it was all positioning and blocking the path of the opponent rather than brute strength of a crushing hit.
He was really one of a kind.

  12. I don't buy it. I don't think any Wings fan that knows hockey actually expects him to be the next head coach. There are many more suitable options for the Red Wings. Especially ones that aren't apart of the recycled group of head coaching options.

  13. I'll trust Steve Yzerman. He gave Blashill enough time and saw he wasn't going to get it done and moved on.

  14. Derek Lalonde seems to be the most talked about recently.

  15. The fact is,Yzerman keeps his cards so close, that we won't have much of a clue until Yzerman says he has hired someone. Fedorov would not surprise me, but it also wouldn't surprise me if he isn't. I've been keeping an eye on the media for when he decides, the further we go into the playoffs, the more I think it is Lalonde, hence why we haven't heard anything yet.

  16. Learn from the avs mistake…. Hiring a former great of the franchise to be the head coach doesnt always work out for the best…

  17. The Ilitch family still has a hard-on against Sergei for signing with Anaheim the way he did. How come no one wants to consider Paul Maurice for head coach? He's level headed, knows defensive systems very well, and has the character and integrity to RESIGN when he feels he's not reaching the players. That's the kind of integrity and character the Wings glory years were built upon.
