I watch everything everywhere all the time , this is BY FAR the best analysis on the trade that there is on the internet. Almost everyone has heralded the Flames trade as a W and the Panthers as a L. I, as you didn't think so, but you gave me the evidence of it. I salute you sir.
Where did you get that J.T. Miller wants out of Vancouver? This week his manager Brian Bartlett said "I do think there's a realistic path for an extension with the Canucks," Bartlett said, according to The Athletic's Harman Dayal. "J.T. loves it in Vancouver. He feels like the team is improving, he loved his role there, his family likes the city."
The reason why Miller will likely get moved if because of the cap crunch not because he wants out of Vancouver.
I wonder what is going through Huberdeau's mind. He was a very popular player for the Panthers and that's the only team he played for, no doubt loving the organization calling Miami home. Wow! Just, wow!

The US development team is a monster, I think they’ve produced something like 18 first round picks since 2019. Basically everyone who plays for those teams makes into the NHL one way or another.

I’m 37. Growing up, no NHL stars wanted to go to Florida. Why? Because they weren’t competitive. Now players are flocking to Florida because it has sand, sunny weather and no income tax? It’s ALWAYS had those things. What is actually going on? I think it’s a mindset change; players want a lifestyle, not a Stanley Cup. Joe Sakic lived around snow/harsh winters and won multiple Stanley Cups. Yzerman, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg stayed in Detroit and did the same.
I believe Canadian NHL scouts will rethink drafting American born players. Especially in the first round
Florida W . Matt base salary $1 million every year for 8 years ,everything else is signing bonus. No guarantee that Jonathan will stay with Calgary, trade deadline trade for pieces. Calgary just postponed what was going to happen.

As a Florida fan, it took overcoming the emotions of losing someone as meaningful and impactful to our franchise as Huberdeau to really see this deal objectively and be more positive about it. I definitely like it from a Forwards perspective, but in the short term our D Core is looking pretty sus. Ekblad (who CANNOT have a bad injury again) Forsling (underrated and I think paired better with Ek than Weegar did anyway), Montour Gudas, then probably something like Lucas Carlsson and Marc Staal? Maybe Kiersted finally takes the leap we've been waiting for. But we'll have the cap space next year finally with Yandle buyout being off the books, Hornqvist contract expiring (and some others), to go after a top 4 D man.

For Florida, I’m pessimistic about this trade. I think Calgary fleeced them. They get a top assist man, at least a 2nd line defensemen maybe a first, and a first round draft pick.
I wouldn’t give that up for any singular player. Not Tkachuk, not Matthews, not even Ovi in his prime.
Florida is going for broke here. If they don’t win the Cup within the next 3-5 years, they will go back to a floundering organization for the next 10 with nothing to show for it.
