1. Calgary is wanting a ready now star… Blues Jordan Kyrou fits the bill also the Blues have a 20 year old power forward that is a pest like Tkachuk named Jake Neighbors oh and he is from Calgary. I would have to think Calgary would want two Canadian born players that are stars. Will suck to give up Neighbors but here from St.Louis sounds like Army knows all the workings since Big Tkachuk lives here and works for us. If the Blues don’t get him I hope it’s the Devils . They’re my favorite eastern conference team. Just would hate to lose Bratt love that kids game.

  2. Severson as the centre piece is a no go. If you want Tkachuk it's gonna hurt. Jersey makes a lot of sense though.

  3. Severson, Holtz, Thompson and the first rounder next year and see what Calgary says. The whole point of having a deep prospect pool is to turn them into established players. Tkachuk would be the perfect add for this team. He would provide protection for our smaller forwards. In my opinion do what it takes but don’t include Bratt.

  4. No GM is going to give up the farm for a one year rental. He won't sign an extension unless he wants to stay because he's only one year away from choosing where he wants. The Blues have a lot of cap space opening up next year.

  5. Wow , Calgary is going to be hurting for offence this coming season :/

  6. It's silly and frankly ludicrous that all these wannabe experts are linking Matthew to the Sens.
That is not happening, at all. Stop.

  7. This is the guy they need. He’s worth a monster trade package if he will sign long term. It’s not worth it to do it for a 1 year deal to lead him into being a UFA. So he would have to want to be here. Watch him end up in Columbus! 😂

  8. Whatever Calgary asks for, say "YES!" Bratt and Severson and a conditional 1st rd 2023 pick. If a player MEETS with the arbitrator, the odds are overwhelming they leave the team they are on within 2 years. It's the nature of the process. Better to trade Bratt now for a game changing piece. Severson is most likely going to be traded sooner or later as the young crop demand more of a role. Tkachuk is Slafkovsky on steroids and makes the Nemec selection even better.

  9. I would love to have him on the Devils but I feel it would cost too much and would hurt them long term.

  10. Tkachuk for severson Mercer Johnson 1st is prob best for us IMO cuz we free cap and keep bratt

  11. If you're doing a trade. it has to start with Holtz, Severson and possibly a pick. I wonder if NJ Could keep their 1st rounder by offering Holtz, Severson, Wood and Foote.
Also, this has not been a good offseason by far. Especially if we don't get Bratt signed long term

  12. no way hed go jump on his brothers thing , maybe later in their careers

  13. The Senators do not have the cap space left to take on Matthew Tkachuk. They should keep Batherson and continue to develop through the draft. You only load up when your team has a legitimate chance at a cup. Ottawa hasn't even made the playoffs for years.

  14. 100% worth it to trade for him… if he will sign a long term deal. Otherwise, it's too expensive for a one year rental. If I was Fitz, I'd require the ability to talk to Tkachuk and get that agreed upon before a trade happened, and have the trade be valid only if an extension is signed. I'd offer Sevo, Holtz, and a 1st. Then NJ dumps Tatar and Johnsson for cap space.

  15. As long as it doesn't cost a top 6….maybe Tatar or johnsson with a Dman(Walsh or some other prospect) and the 2022 and 2023 1st unprotected overall pick

  16. LOL Devils and Senators aren't on Matthew Tkachuk's preferred destinations, Try more like St Louis, Dallas, Nashville, Florida and Vegas.

  17. 99% of players U.S., others even canadians would rather play in the U.S. right now. Canada is nuts with their taxes, ridiculous vaccine mandates, gestapo border crossing and an idiot PM… too much of a hassle playing in canada

  18. I don’t think giving up Holtz makes sense. Teams that are successful and have multi year contending windows get cheap production. His performance since being drafted says not only does he have long term potential, but he will put up at least 20g 25a if given at least 15 minutes and PP time. The number two pick was the big asset. Imagine if we took Shane Wright??? He would undoubtedly be the best centerpiece of any package Calgary could hope to receive. As much as I like Nemec i don’t think he has the same trade value.

  19. Giving up Bratt is pointless. He was amazing last year. Tkachuk is
not significantly better. His eye popping stats are because he was playing with an mvp candidate in Gaudreau.

  20. NFW Tkachuk wants to go to New Jersey… Thatd'd be like getting traded from one porta-potty to another…..

  21. If Ottawa wanted Tkachuk they would have to trade him with assets from their roster (rather than send just prospects and picks). Example: they could do a 1 for 1 trade with DeBrincat going to Calgary. If so, then they would have to still make small personnel changes to their roster. Here's the upshot though: to go through the work of bringing Matthew in including making roster changes, Ottawa would have to answer the following question: does Matthew materially make them better than if they just had DeBrincat going forward? For instance, Matthew brings a physical element to his game that may elevate the whole team substantially more, both in the regular season and the playoffs, as compared to DeBrincat. So if management felt that way, they might indeed chase after Matthew. If not, they would just pass on the reunion of the Tkachuk brothers.

  22. Ottawa has $11 million in cap space still with all their moves and they can make $5 million more in space if they offload Zaitsev so cap space isn’t even a issue

  23. If the NJ trade was offered and declined by Calgary, it may be that Calgary went to Tkachuk with the potential move and were told no.

  24. I think the big question is what's Calgary Direction going forward? If they think they can still be a contender then Severson is a great asset. If they want to start collecting futures a
Not so much. Unless they think they could trade him for another first at the deadline.

Either way I would be happy with either combination of Sevo+Bratt or Sevo+Holtz+ lower end Prospects or picks.

  25. Most teams are liking their chops. Calgary will want something in return not to lose Tkachuk for nothing next year when he becomes a UFA. This puts Calgary in a very difficult position. Would be great returns if you get a 1st rounder for a player signed for a year. He's unsigned so teams don't know what to expect. Any GM may not like the risky situation that they might lose Tkachuk next year because he didn't like the team. Sorry Calgary fans, I know Tkachuk is worth a lot more than that, but why risk it? You can get Tkachuk for nothing in the free agency. If he signs with you in Free Agency, you have a chance to keep him longer.

  26. He’s not voluntarily going to a province with even worse lockdowns like Ontario.

  27. Get used to this. Shitty taxes. COVID lockdowns. Why would anyone want to put up with that if they didn’t have to.
