  1. I think Zadina needs a little time. I watched 75ish games this year, and he finds great openings during games but he just isn't making the shots. If the Wings keep him, I'll be fine. If we trade him, I'll be fine. Dude is still only 22y.o.

  2. The thing with Zadina is you can see improvement and you can see his potential upside. When Vrana came back you could really see the upside. I dont know what Zadinas work ethic is like off the ice but if he progresses normal I can see strength and experience really helping out his game. Not to mention the team getting better around him. Yzerman needs to be very careful with any trades he puts together involving Zadina.

  3. I don't think the Wings pull the plug on Zadina yet. However this next season is massive for him. Most fans think it's a question of when not if he breaks out. He's got a new coach coming and Zadina is going to be near to or at the top of his "to do" list. If he continues to toil though hell definitely be shipped out.

  4. He’s improved defensively very nicely. Zadina on a line with Berggren next year will net him an easy 15 goals at the bare minimum. Which makes me believe Zadina will hit a point of being a 25 goal scorer in the next 2-3 years. And having a defensively sound 25 goal scorer can be both a asset, or a great trade chip for moving up in the 1st Round of the draft.

  5. I think it's probably too soon to give up on Zadina, especially with a new coach coming in. I don't think Blashill gave him enough opportunities. However, if a trade for Kakko presented itself I would not object, depending on what else the Wings have to throw in.

  6. Put him in the right spot with the right line and a new coach I suspect we'll see more out of Zadina. Yzerman will likely get him into a very team friendly contract too.

  7. I think it's gonna depend on what they could potentially get for him in return. I don't see him leaving for just draft picks. However, if someone offers a good, veteran top 6 scorer (just splitballing here, but say someone like David Pastrnak) I think Yzerman will go for it. I can't imagine Zadina living up to that 6th overall pick hype, and scoring the volume of goals he was supposed to, but he could still carve out a decent NHL career with somebody

  8. I think that Zadina deserves a 1 year "prove it" type deal. It would benefit both sides. Zadina would get say a 1 year 1.5 million dollar contract or something like that. He would get another shot in the NHL, and a chance to prove he deserves a nice significant pay raise. The red wings would get a low risk high reward shot on a young player. If it doesn't work out, all the red wings lose is 1.5 million in cap space. Plus they could also probably get a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick out of him as a reclamation project. Remember he was a top 10 overall pick, and outstanding goal scorer. If he does work out, the red wings get a solid contributor. I believe Zadina will be able to turn it around with a new coach. He will get a new offensive system, and perhaps a coach that understands him better. All in all, Yzerman should give Zadina one more season, and if he doesn't perform then he gets the boot.

  9. Would the Red Wings take the Jets 30th pick (originally from Rangers in Copp trade) for Zadina?

  10. I’m willing to give baby steps as long as they can put him with players that are better than suter and fabbri. 40pts next season is a win in my eyes and just grow from there

  11. He needs to work on his shot. He is responsible defensively and played well with Vrana. I keep him around and let him prove himself.

  12. Be careful on one year prove it deals, look at Fiala in MN, we are paying the price for not signing him last summer and losing a 85 point 25 year old forward most likely. Of course, if he explodes Detroit wins short term but the price goes up substantially, the poker GM’s have to play.

  13. If he can't score at a higher rate, then he's a bottom 6 players and that's disappointing considering where he was drafted.

  14. Vancouver should know it can be worth it to trust in player development. Thinking of a pick 2 and 3 starting to break out at 23 and really breaking out at 25

  15. I tend to feel a little apprehension whenever the Habs played the Red Wings because Zadina vowed at the 2018 draft "I am going to fill their net with pucks" (after he was passed over by the Habs in favor of Kotkaniemi at 3rd overall).

  16. If I were GM of the Leafs, I would snatch Zadina up. I think he would perform well on a line with Nylander even well on 3rd line with Abruzzese and Kampf.

  17. Give the guy another year, see what the new can do with him. He has great potential and maybe a different system and voice could be the different.

  18. I can't see SY trading a player at the lowest trade value moment in his career, especially when he has shown signs in every area of his game except finishing. You have to give him another year competing with players and settling into a new system and see if he can catch on. The only trade making sense is to swap him for another high pick who has not caught on but shows promise and in need to change scenery.

  19. UMM THAT GOALIE JUST WON GOLD 2022 OLYMPICS AND WAS 8-0 IIHF THATS A BIG SIGNING FOR THE D

  20. I dont want to watch zadina play hockey anymore… I'm fully willing to trade him for other busts like dach or kakko for "changes of scenery" expirements

  21. At 22, he hasn't reached the "change of scenery" point yet. I dont think the return drops in a year or two, so no need to rush a trade. The potential for significant growth is there, so be patient for now.

  22. It's just people that don't understand that not every player gets off to a fast start. Alot of guys end up taking a few years to really get going. He's still only 22. And it's not like he was bad at all. Just the scoring wasn't there. Every other aspect of his game is pretty good.

  23. Some say that Zadina will live up to expectations, he just needs more time or different coaching. Others say that the Red Wings would be better off trading him. One possiblity to consider: these two views could both be correct.

It all depends on what the Wings would get back for the trade, and we have seen how good Yzerman is at getting really good things back from a trade.

  24. Definitely keep Zadina around next year. If he finds his stride under a brand new coach the return could outweigh the potential risk of losing him to a team

  25. If I were Zadina, I'd be going to a sports psychologist, personal trainer and nutritionist. The first to grow his ego, confidence, aggression and mental toughness so he gets out of his self-loathing head. The second to increase muscle contractility and quickness. The third to ensure his body is consuming nutrients and oxygen efficiently.
