  1. 16. 20 bucks to unload gardening supplies at K-Mart. Dinner. Buddies arrive. Party @ Linda K's- but doesn't begin until parents leave @ 7:30. What about 1st period? 0 problem: Electronics Department @ K-Mart. Keg at foot of stairs in LK's basement. Schultz v. Schonfield; Kelly-Dudley- buddies and I going absolutely wild in tiny living room. Girls laughing heads off. Wannabe nurse gives me back-rub. Walking home. What a night.

  2. Bernie Parent was the best goalie I ever saw. He's underrated. Two Stanley Cups in a row; two Conn Smythe trophies in a row. The Best.

  3. Hi, new Flyers fan here (Baltimore sports fan from north of the city, unwilling to support a DC team, and with friends in Philadelphia)
    Thanks for posting this.

  4. What would be better for you if you had a disease, studying about your disease for hours and days, or quickly go to the doctor to get medication for your disease?

Guess what, Jesus is your doctor and your medication. Its about honest relationship between you and him.

    Disease- is your sin,
Doctor – is you admitting and showing your disease to Jesus
Medication – is forgiveness from Jesus and a new start for you.

Go to Jesus in truth. ❤

  5. Fun fact: that Flyers championship squad was the last year the Cup was won by a team comprised of entirely Canadian players.
It's great to see how International the NHL has become!

  6. Good ole time hockey……great goaltendining ….awesome flyers winnng 2 cups in a row…..both by shutouts…amazing feat…..45 yrs since….its time…just do it….Go Flyers!!

  7. And then the Habs swept the flyers in the final in 1976……THE END. In 5 years the flyers will join the leafs in the "no cup for over 1/2 a century club".

  8. It’s interesting really. Perhaps the hockey gods are exacting revenge on us. Since this series we have been to the Stanley Cup Final six more times. Each time losing to amazing dynasties.
1976: The first of four in a row by great Habs team.
1980: the first of four in a row to the Islanders dynasty.
1985: the Baby Bullies full of many rookies and young players lose to the great Edmonton Oilers
1987: Hexy wins Conn Smythe as the Oilers win another. Two of Gretzky’s four Cups are against Philly.
1997: Red Wings win their first Cup in 42 years on their way to 4 in 11 years.
2010: Chicago wins their first Cup in 49 years, as they win three in five years.
The Flyers have been a great franchise and have had many teams who were Cup-worthy only to run into a juggernaut EVERY time.

  9. Watch Bobby Clarke at 1:51:34. With the game on the line, after the faceoff he puts on his Acme rocket skates to get back to make a defensive play.

  10. I feel bad for RJ. 24 years later, he lost again. He had a gut feeling that would happen, ‘cause the opponents had better guys.

  11. Pretty interesting how they only needed 2 refs to call 6 penalties in the first period and now we have 4 'refs' who cant call 2 penalties in a period.

  12. This brought back some memories, than your for posting. I would have like to seen the original commercials, LOL it isn't the same watching uninterrupted

  13. I grew up a life long Flyers fan and ice hockey player in Springfield township Pennsylvania just outside Philly! I watched the Flyers do the impossible first they were the first expansion team to win the Stanley cup against the Boston Bruins but did it again against the Buffalo Sabres;! Bernard Marcel Parent was by far the best goalie to ever play and lead the flyers to both cup titles both by shut outs! Philadelphia Flyers forever iam a fan!

  14. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better set of statistics for netminder than Bernie Parent had in the back-to-back years when the Flyers won the Stanley Cup

Bernie Parent was my boyhood idol. I finally got to meet him in early 2014, and it was one of the best moments of my life.

My development during my formative years as a goaltender would not have been possible without emulating him and the teachings of Jacques Plante.

  15. I was 5 years old at the time of this game. I'm wondering if I'll live to see them win another one. I guess it helps that I quit smoking.

  16. I see a lot of ignorant comments since the 1990s that goalies looked awful back then in the 1970s. Well imagine being a stand up goaltender without body protection today like a bed mattress and without a helmet cage protector. That is what guys like Bernie Parent had to play without.

  17. Buffalo didnt have a d-man to get the puck to the forwards , gilbert perreault many times had to get the puck up ice himself , ppl dont understand that , thats how great perreault was, a 200 foot center. His hole career he never had a great puck moving D-man to play with all he had was korab , shoenfeld etc….. in canada cups he always was one of the top tournament players and 72 when he did play he shined , in these tournaments he had great d-men !
