Though a Preds fan…. I live in Florida and finally proud the Cats made it past round 1, finally! Loving the game, I got tickets to game 1 and 2…. And then morning of game 1. Today. Woke up sick. Went for a COVID Test…. Positive. Breakthrough case, my second time. Couldn’t sell em to top it off. Single ticket per game. FML! Cat to Cat, Saber to Panther, Go Cats Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I don't like repeat stanley cup winners either. I remember in 2020 just admittingly predicting on my bracket for st. louis to repeat that year. but part of me honestly didn't care anymore since that was the covid bubble year. but st. louis dominated the central division for most of the 2019-20 season from what i remember
as far as the repeat winners go, 2021 was an exemption since that was like a fairy tale ending since in 2020 they won the cup in an empty arena in edmonton which is over 3,000 miles away from tampa, and then in 2021 they won it on home ice in front of nearly 20,000 of their own fans they could finally celebrate with. now if that's not a true storybook ending idk what is
2022 will be no exemption tho. tampa had their fairy tale written. the current tampa team has now already celebrated a stanley cup in a normal post-covid world. time in 2022 for another team to do the same

Florida couldn't score a PP goal if their life depended on it. Tampa on the other hand will hurt you most of the time if you give them a man advantage. Game 1 is, I believe, a preview of the rest of the series. TB wins this in 5.
I have the Lightning winning this series and I have them threepeating in my Bracket Challenge. I can't get behind the "it's time for a new team to win" sentiment and I want to see great teams win until they can't anymore. The Lightning are also gunning to be the first team since the Islanders to threepeat and that's just something special I hope to see.
I had Florida winning the cup over Colorado. My prediction that the Blues have Minnesota's number worked out, but that's the only matchup I dug into this year's history for. 8-4 Lightning, 9-3 Panthers, 4-1 Panthers, 4-2 Lightning (preseason), 6-2 Panthers (preseason), 3-2 Panthers (preseason).
Barring the preseason, they only played 3 times and it was split with 1 blowout for each team. Yeah, should be a great series. Hoping Thornton and Giroux get their cup.

I don’t get the mindset of not liking repeat champions. I like watching greatness as a sports fan. If the Bolts are the best they deserve it. Rooting against them because, they are the champs just comes off as a hater
