I think we did good in the draft but Adams is focused on talent and speed, not so much for size and toughness. I rather see a mix of both. I'm not sure the lack of grit issues will ever be addressed on this team!
Gibson at full salary no thank you. But if at full salary the return compensation has to reflect that. No 1sts. Maybe 1 of our extra 2nds next year. If the Sabres have to sign a FA goalie why not these options….. D. Kuemper 4 years at $6.5mil per J. Campbell 3 years at $5.5mil per Or go with a younger upside goalie that could become a good 1B (if Levi signs)…… Eric Comrie 3 years at $1.75mil per Last Season ($750k) 19g 2.55gaa .920% Still prefer to sign UPL to a Tage like extension….. 1yr $1mil 2yr $1.2mil 3yr $1.4mil
I really think in 2-3 years you are gonna see this team play an extreme uptempo north south game that excel in transition with all these smaller forwards who have great skating and speed that are anchored by our gigantic mobile hulking blue line. Just imagine Skinner, Krebs, Savoie, Quinn, Peterka, Rosen, Ostlund and Kulic darting up the ice being supported on the back end by Power, Dahlin, Sammuelson and hopefully more. This team can be very scary if it all gels together. We can also have a big line with Cozens/Thompson/Tuch too.
I hope we sign Houser and UPL and possibly another goalie in Andersons price range. Houser needs more games he's a gem and if I had to pick between UPL and Houser I'd take Houser every day of the week. If Houser signs somewhere else and gets a chance look out he will make us look like fools the guy is a stud.
Not sure who gets a no-trade clause in their contract, or if it's an automatic at some point in a player's career? Anyway, if it's in there, by contract the player has to pick 5 or even 10 teams to put on a list of undesirable teams (cities really) to play. Buffalo will always be on probably 90% of those lists! It's a clause that really gives a player too much control, as if the money they're making is not enough…
Hey Wayne….I dont think any fan really has a handle on how we did on this draft. It is good that experts all were impressed with the choices the Sabres made. Im looking forward to the young talent coming into Buffalo next week for a developmental camp. Im going to really try getting down there to see them firsthand.
The real problem with No Movement clauses are based on the ability for teams to take a veteren player and put him in the minors to save $$$$$. MLB, the other league with a minors system, you can't put vets down in the minors without there permission, and if you try they can demand their release… which would cause a cap hell situation because the contract is fully guaranteed. Not sure how the NHLPA has allowed that to happen. Still, I think the sabres did fairly well in the draft. Anything past the second round really are lottery picks because it's just like a lottery ticket.. you guy it and pray.
Portillio and Johnson in a package for Gibson since they arent signing with Buffalo??? Throw in Asplund , id say Bjork but no GM would take him . lol Too bad Holtby is injured as his career could be over too as he signing him for 2 years would've been perfect . Talbot trade ?? Someone else recommended this as he has 1 year left and i hear he is pissed that Guerin resigned Fleury. Sign Greise , Martin Jones , Halak , Charlie Lindgren or Eric Comrie are a few UFAs available. Any interest in Dylan Strome ex of Chicago as im hearing he wont get a qualifying offer from Chicago thus becoming UFA? Good video as usual Wayne ! Hope you're feeling better
A draft isn't a guarantee of anything. You hope for the best. We seem to have, in the pool, a lot of talent and speed and skill. I do not believe you can draft the grit that we need; that's not going to be fully developed in an 18-year-old. For grit, you have to trade for an already established player or sign him as a free agent.

Hey Ottawa made their FA bed with Murray so let 'em lay in it now. 👍😉
Come on Toronto make the trade with Ottawa for Murray! 👍😉
I agree, Abolish the no move clause.

"Arguably the best pool just got better." That's very cool. Nice to see a little respect.

With the reports of Talbot being unhappy in MN I wonder what it would take to get him. Only 1 year left at $3.6m so it may not take a lot.
Light and airy. That's a good description of a 160-pound Ostlund. Cause the Sabres need lighter, airier players!!!

I think we need to get another defencemen
Holtby is rumored to be taking career ending hip surgery

Instead of 10 teams in a "No Trade Clause" how about whittling it down to just 2.
Malkin. no
Wayne, your videos are great, but the greatest parts and when you pick on yourself for your glasses!
Got some fun questions: If you were the GM for our Sabres, and choose one of these two greats, who would you draft:
1) Guy LaFluer or Larry Robinson?
2) Clark Gilles or Bryan Trottrier?
3) Wayne Gretzky or Mario Lemieux?
4) Gil Perreault or Pat Lafontaine?
5) Dominic Hasek or Patrick Roy?
6) Tim Horton or Duncan Donut?
