I can’t help but feel like there is a major change coming in terms of trading and changing out the core and I have a prediction for what it is…
I think Blake Wheeler is a future member of the Arizona Coyotes…but I got something even more juicy than that
I think Jacob Chychrun is a future member of the Winnipeg Jets…
Everybody has spent all year talking about how much it would cost to pry the Coyotes Captain out of the desert and I think the answer is…A LOT of assets and I think Winnipeg is gonna hate it.
Winnipeg Gets:
LD Jakob Chychrun
UFA rights to Strahlman (just to make the money work)
Arizona Gets:
2022 1st Round Pick
LD Ville Heinola
RW Blake Wheeler
2023 1st round pick (top ten protected)
That’s a lot of assets, but if Winnipeg thinks this is the group that can contend then they need to add a big time piece. They also need to dump Wheeler’s salary to bring back Dubois.
Option B is to just sell Scheifele, Hellebuyck, Dubois, and start fresh. I think that option is less than ideal too though because while a ton of assets could be had for those players you also have the concept that all three can be UFA in 2 years
