  1. Owen Powers playing for Buffalo next year will add to this young group of players growing up and bonding together. There is indeed lights at the end of the tunnel for the Sabres|

  2. Things are looking up over here in Buffalo. Also look and see what Quinn and Peterka are doing in the Ahl. They come up next year ohhhh boy.

  3. You can give Don Granato some credit for Thompson’s success. Granato moved Thompson to center after years of being lost on the wing. Tage said he’s played center before so he’s naturally comfortable there. Dude has become a legit top 6 center for us.

  4. Skinner and Tage have more goals than anyone on Tampa except 91 who has a goal more

  5. It's crazy how young he still is too. I didn't realize that he was only 18 or 19 on the Blues, so it kind of makes sense that he's starting to take off now.

  6. I think the blues could part with Tage Thompson partially because they got Jordan Kyrou in the same draft. Also I believe Thompson benefited for better minutes as buffalo has been rebuilding. Whereas the blues are deep enough to spread their talent across 3 lines even if at the costs of some individual production.

  7. I love thompson and sincerely believe this trade wasnt as much of a fleece if thompson keeps this offensive production. But u cannot ignore the defensive aspect of RO'Rs selke level skill.

  8. It's actually a good thing when your traded prospects do well. You don't want to be seen as the organization that only trades fool's gold

  9. ONLY REASON I WAS MAD ABOUT THE TRADE WAS THE FACT THAT BERGLUND WAS A LIL B AND THEN SOBOTKA WAS HORRIBLE!! Tage was not looking good because he wasn't being used properly and in the Center POS he has excelled like crazy obviously that being what he has talked about for moat of the video. If Ryan John's is a beast then let's go Buffalo and then we will have Power, Cozens and then who knows who else will be the next superstar we draft

  10. Thompson is a great redemption story. But getting lost here, Thompson has a rocket of a wrist shot and a cannon of a one-timer. Not to mention the gigantic reach. One reason that he scored that fluky goal against the Blackhawks with ten seconds left is because despite breaking his stick on the shot, the velocity of his shot is so high, that it had the strength to bounce off the boards and into the net. If I was a goalie, I'd be afraid.

  11. I have been a lifelong Sabres fan. This emergence I saw from the first time. He just didn't have a coach in his side until Granato took over. He saw the talent and you've seen it emerge across the entire Sabres team. Thompson was offered the chance to be a top line player last season and told it won't be handed to you and he grabbed it by the throat and took it. I see him probably balancing out about 60-80 points and the end result being him Tuch and Skinner being 1 of 3 scoring threat lines for years to come. Cozens and Krebs already showed signs of even more threat when they had Quinn for a few games this season and Peterka will give Middlestat and Olofsson that edge they need. Not to even deny that the 4th line of Girgensons Eakin and Okposo can still put up 20-40 points each. If they sign a 3rd to help ease UPL and Anderson for next year Buffalo is going to go on a run. They have the talent and Granato just keeps unlocking new levels for everyone.

The sad part is I was told I was dumb for saying they had the talent a year ago and how they had to trade off everyone and start from scratch. I was also called dumb for saying Thompson was going to break out. If you watched his play once Granato took the helm you saw him start to refine and realize he doesn't have to just be this heavy hitting forward everyone said he would be. He has the speed, shot and creativity to make some crazy plays and Skinner finding his shot again was a great combo. Then Tuch just brought it all together with a great attitude and showing them that no matter what you are a Sabre and we will always love them. The owners might not get a pass, but the players are gems of the city

  12. it's clear that with the emergence of Tage… He's closing the gap in this deal. If O'Reilly retired right after the stanley Cup… St. Louis would have called it a win (winning the cup will do that). Yes, we'd love to see the rest of those guys in uniform.. but if Johnson does do well, it will help make the deal not look so "The Sabres got Fleeced" like has been said for the last few. years. Tage is tamping that down now.

  13. Can't believe what a difference the move to center has made for Thompson.. I had written him off 2yrs ago n now I think the skies the limit… just a completely different player this yr

  14. I always knew this would be the outcome of the infamous ROR trade. The Sabres were bashed to death over this trade and I never knew why. Sure, ROR helped St. Louis win a cup the first year there but he has totally fallen off a cliff since. Some might say that alone was worth the trade then so be it. However the big issue with O'Reilly…and alot of people tend to forget…is he's just a bad person overall. It was great to see him leave. The day after we traded FOR him and give him a huge 64 million extension he goes off to Canada and slams his truck intoxicated into a Tim Hortons and flees the scene. The guy is a loser. Somehow though everyone felt sorry for this guy after he left Buffalo. ROR should be on his knees thanking Buffalo for giving him the chance he didn't deserve. That was the issue with the Eichel era..Those days are gone though. Anyhew, ROR is washed up and now Tage Thompson is one of the leagues best young snipers. We also got a pretty good defensive prospect out of it too. Funny how some things age
