Hard fought win. The power play has gotta start clicking but other than that very happy with the effort and I like our young defensemen. Laughed so hard when Kane punched Lemieux. Talk shit get banged! Let’s goooo Oooooilers!!!
Got to love the battle level the last 2 nights, finally nice to see the Oil play a playoff style game, thought it was going to be a long night Smith was not sharp the first 10 mins or so, 2 icing and just a brutal give away on the first goal, not sure what he was thinking there as he cut off his own dman to play the puck, but to his credit battle hard the rest of the night and made some big stops late. Be interesting to know if the coaching staff talked to him between periods as he didn't play the puck as much the last 2 periods.
Did we see Woodcroft send his first message to the team and to Kane after Kane took the second dumb penalty in a row he missed a couple shifts, if it was Woodcroft sending a message I like it set the standard now on accountability something that has been missing with the last couple of head coaches.
Back in a playoff spot now to stay there, need to knock off both the ducks and jets before we head out on the road and play the 3 powerhouses from the east
Really good all around win. What impressed me the most was they were patient, and just kept coming at the Kings in the third. This team looks so much better under the new coach. And both goalies look great. Love Smith's performance, he bounced back after giving up a softy. Keep it guys. Lets grab another 2 points on Thursday!
Nice win ! Smith going super nova .938 spct . Stay healthy.
Playoff grind style game. Not much room out there.
Couple of slot/ grade A shots from passes behind the net . Barrie let a few thru in the 3rd but deny one shortly after edm 4 th goal with a smart poke check. . Woody and Manson will go over video , as a team down low some r puck watching the player behind the net , which is likely not the main threat , instead of trying to deny that grade A /slot shots or open man in the soft zone of slot , where they goalie has a 70-80 percent chance of making the save.
7/11 crew 3-0 .
Koptiar and danault solid on the dot. Koptiar over 80%.
Another different style win. Seeing an attitude change as well as effort under the new coaching. I saw a more playoff type of game that the team could not do play last season. If this continues I’m looking forward to a better run. Big tests coming and a benchmark to where this team is. Kane seems to be getting his legs as well as comfort with the team. Things are looking up. Keep the videos rolling.
Even though three games are a small sample size, it would appear that the change in defensive tactics along with a greater scrutiny to details that have been applied by Jay Woodcroft/Dave Manson have been a major factor in allowing the Oilers to win in their last three games. And, just as important, the Oilers' offensive game has not been adversely affected by these changes in tactics which in turn has allowed the team to regain both its confidence and swagger as the season progresses. However, a few minor technical changes in the Oilers' power play will be needed before they can become the undisputed top seed in their division.
WOW I can't believe they won 🤯 is the Oilers are waking up or is it just smoke and mirrors 😎 still a long way to the playoff and are we as fans going get your money worth 💯 ????
The fact the Oilers are now in third place and are 3-0 with the new coaching staff makes are 12 game losing streak irrelevant. Kane giving Lemieux that knockout punch was a bonus.
oilers getting into the 'tough to play against' mode. that is what it will take to win. i am out east and fell asleep after the first period. anyone to comment please; Shore in for Benson. I read Shore played short of 3 mins. Any particular reason why, and was mcleod on the 4th pairing as well and did he play more / well? I am rooting for Benny so that is why I enquire. Thx for any insight on this.
Finally! We're playing like a team that actually wants to make the playoffs. Kane completely fell for that bait from Lemieux, though… But, good god, that was a nice left. 🙂
Finally gritty goals. PP needs some work I didn't like the first goal at all but oilers were relentless and kane punching what's his face was awesome 👏 go oilers go wooooo
This is what a competent coach does. Keeps running with his lines. Gives the players a chance to keep playing. Not just put McDavid and drai on the same line and increase their mins on a back to back.
The Oilers won when they didn't score first! Now they are dangerous!
Oh, btw. That goalie I mentioned, Lars Johansson – I found out he's actually signed with a Swedish team for next season, so he's not a free agent after all. The NHL has a deal with the SHL tho, so if he wants to go, I think it's still possible. But I suspect he means to settle back then, since he's moving home.
He was stellar in the olympic quarterfinal earlier today, where he shut out Canada.
Woodcroft has been doing all the logical little things that add up to wins over time. – getting the 3rd and 4th lines enough ice time to be in the flow of the game. – running the big 3 down the middle that the fans have been demanding since McDavid was drafted. – having a vet with each of the young D whenever possible and limiting their exposure, yet giving each > 10 minutes every game. – having a right hand Center play wing with Nuge, so he only needs to take strong side draws. – going with 3 scoring lines, so that at least one of them (Nuge) gets to face 3rd pairing Ds. – Focus on clogging up the neutral zone whether tied, up by one or down by one so that the team isn't in "chasing the game" mode. Let's hope that this kind of play is kept up, as it will pay dividends in the playoffs. Time to beat Anaheim and solidify that playoff spot!

Power play was still cold, maybe a few little adjustments soon.

aside from those 2 losses, the Oilers are 8-0-1 since the middle of January.
I love the way oilers are playing with woodcroft it’s like it’s another team we never had

Oooooooh player the game, graphic and everything. Pretty soon you're going to have WWE quality production my man

Smitty was Awesome last night.
Hard fought game.
Evander nice Bop on the Chin on Lemieux!!
Do you know why we were wearing our home alternate jerseys while we away? I noticed it also at the San Jose game
Ye
Another major positive difference is how the team protects their blueline now. No more easy entries.
That was another good game. A guy could get used to this.

i'll believe it when they win against good teams.
What a Lepuss……
I liked seeing Nudge & Yamamoto pick up their game !
