  1. If it was my pick from your list is …

    Starter – John Gibson
    Backup – Stuart Skinner
    3rd String – Jon Gillies

  2. Let’s face it it’s our goaltending is the soft spot in the line up. It takes years to develop young goalies so going after a true #1 NHL ready goalie is priority. I’m sure it’s the talk in the board room about how much money is available and we know Mr. Hollands track record with goalies. It’s One major reason Tampa is in the final and I believe we could have taken Colorado further with some big saves at the right time. Mike Smith reminded me of Hextal one giant save and one soft goal and ready to snap at any time!

  3. One thing the Oilers (and especially their fans) need to keep in mind is that the goalie market this summer is going to be busy.

There are multiple teams which are going to be looking to make moves which means UFAs are going to get multiple offers and will likely get paid above market value. It also means that anyone we trade for is going to cost us as well; not only to acquire but to keep.

Husso is still largely unproven but will attract lots of interest; and probably money. If Colorado wins the Cup, Kuemper will hit the Jackpot! Scratch him. Gibson is just too damned costly for my tastes and has been declining. I'm not opposed to the odd reclamation project now and then but not one with a cap hit and a term like he's got. Hard pass on him!

If it were possible to attract Fleury at all (which is doubtful), he may not be a bad choice as both the term and the cap hit would be reasonable. Campbell, I'm lukewarm on at best. If he's any good, why wouldn't the Leafs keep him?

Hutchinson would be my choice for 3rd stringer. He's the one I'd trust most with any emergency NHL fill-in assignments.

  4. Universal belief? Lil bit of an understatement given the past playoff goal tending performance. Fantastic career? You’re too nice & im betting players that retired without a cup would agree.

  5. Instead of throwing all our hopes and dreams on the shoulders of a 40 year old goalie, …and by extension a 32 year old, media abused Finn. while the 40 year old heals from his latest injury. Why not put all our faith in a 24 year old with 13 NHL games on his resume….What could possibly go wrong?

  6. I agree 👍💯😊 that Edmonton needs to bring in 2 goalies for the start of season. Sign a free agent goalie and draft a goalie or sign 2 free agent goalies

  7. This position is the key to the next season. Sure, doing something about the Oilers defense will be important too for them, but a really good starter goes a long way!

  8. I hope not on Fluery and Keumper. Campbell or Husso would be good.
Gibson could be the best option but could also turn into a luongo situation, good but not great goaltending with a contract that sucks.

  9. We all know that the Oilers need to get a goalie who can handle alot of pucks going towards him every game and can handle the puck great !plus pup up his team like Smith did .

  10. Why doesn’t Holland use any clout he ever had with the wings a try and get Sebastien Cosa from them. I know it’s not “here and now” but being an Alberta kid and knowing our rink….can’t hurt for the future.

  11. Oilers need to find a starter this year. I personally think we should target Kuemper. He's a proven number 1 goalie who can both shelter Skinner and support the whole team to a deep playoff run. He's 32 years old, so I think the Oilers will offer him a relatively short term contract, maybe 3yrs 6.5m. Not too risky, and it can allow Skinner to take the reins in the coming years. I like having Hutchinson as our 3rd string goalie. Must've learnt a lot after McDavid scored that ankle-breaker.

Ville Husso has been very good this year, but is he a reliable no1 goalie? He can turn out great, but he can also turn out to be the next Alex Nedelivejic. He will be my 2nd option if we don't get Kuemper. Flower would be a Mike Smith 2.0 as he's only 2 years younger than Smith and may retire in the coming years, but again a decent option if Skinner is taking over in the next 2 years. I'd avoid an expensive Gibson trade unless we absolutely have to.

  12. Definitely the weakest part of the franchise. Not only do Oilers need to obtain these goalies, they need to surround them with better trainers, coaches etc. Oilers have long been able to develop a goaltender in house. Salo was probably the last, off the top my head. I have faith in Holland and crew but they've already fumbled a bit with Skinner. Hopefully they don't break him. Goalies are fragile creatures. lol.

  13. I’m in favor of Skinner getting more as a backup to an #1 goaltender . The goalies in the minors are not seasoned or proven. Still in a cap crunch unless Smith and Keith retire 🎄🎅 I’m not sure if the goalies that may be available will give the team the quality that is required for the next step. Keep the vids rolling

  14. Or, and just hear me out, they could start playing as a TEAM!
Cause the Edmonton McDraisaitls ain't getting it done.

  15. Imagine Darcy Kuemper as 1, Stuart Skinner as backup and Ryan Fanti as 3rd string.
