    I’m an isles fan, this is a steal for us. Our pick will be around 28-32 so it’s not a huge loss for us if you look at the guys we got in return. On top of that, the 2021 draft class is weaker than other years. And with the CHL not having a normal season, the scouts don’t get a close look at players, so there may be some players who would be a 1st rounder in a normal year that fall to the 3rd or 4th round because of the circumstances.

    I’m still curious where Hall will end up landing. Seems like the Capitals are trying to clear up some cap space right now with them waiving Richard Panik. And with the news that Lundqvist might be back in time for the playoffs it makes me wonder if they’re trying to move on Hall to see if they can spark him into his old self in time for a playoff run.

    Win for NJ. For NYI to break even they definitely need to make the final 4 again. And failing that they would need to sign both Palmieri and Zajac.

    What’s everyone else (including you OhNyquist) think about rivals making trades? I’m so mixed because:

    PROS:
    -It’s business
    -It could heat up a rivalry and add drama

    CONS:
    -It’s business
    -It could water down a rivalry and make everything boring

    As a devils fan, I can say that Zajac fits PERFECTLY in Trotz’ system. While he isn’t the fastest or most skilled player out there he knows how to play the game and is SUPER underrated

    Was hoping the leafs would’ve traded for Palm + Zajac for Matthews or Marner + Leafs 1st pick 2022

    2 things come to mind with this deal. As an isles fan, Palms brings in power play goals and first line mins. Zajac is reenforcement at Center. Isles haven't had much luck staying healthy at center in recent years. Well now they have 5 legit centers

    I’m a Devils fan and for me it’s not the return I’m concerned about. Maybe they could have gotten a little more, but they got the 1st which is huge. What concerns me is the hole these two players leave not only on the ice, but in the locker room as well.

    I think the Isles won that trade. Especially since NJ retained 50% of their contracts.

    The conditional pick will turn into a 3rd round pick if the Isles make the cup finals. Isles have the option to decide if the pick is from the 2022 or 2023 draft. Devils retain 1/2 of both salaries.

    Isles fan here. Love everything about this trade, I think barzal can turn Palmieri into a legitimate threat again in the playoffs and Zajac fits the islanders system so well.

    Do you think Trotz will put Palmieri with Barzal and Eberle or Zajac. One problem is that they are both RH shots and Anders is a lefty. Whoever is not on top line will play with JGP and Wahlstrom. Really interested in what you guys think

    NYI definitely won in the now. Can never say who’s gonna win 5 years from now with the first round pick going one way, especially when it’s for rentals. However the islander just added two guys that can play top 6 minutes. Their top 9 is absolutely loaded now and these players fit their coaches playing Scheme perfect. The islander just got way more gritty and improved their offence at the same time! This will be the best move any team makes to improve before the deadline.

    as a devils fan my whole life, i think this deal is pretty fair for both sides, when i found out palmieri and zajac would be ufas after the season, i thougnht it woul be really funny if they resigned with nj
