Hard to compare last year vs this year
Last year division of Chicago : top 3 CAR FLO TB (not in the division anymore). Nashville and Dallas were ahead of Chicago ok…
Winnipeg will be in the Central. They are not very a good team 63 pts in a division quite weak.
Col Min AZ STL will be with CHI, now ok looks hard but they were in a weird division with the very weak ANA SJ LA.
Bottom line is what?
IF Central will return, CHI with the changes will be better.
Prediction
1 COL
2 CHI Fleury 2nd best goaler last year
3 NSH
4 WIN
If nothing else MAF can help teach Lankinen how to be a Cup winning goalie. Bodes well for the future. So many question marks though. Can Toews come back and be Toews again? Is Kirby back to 100% after his injury? Is Nylander ready to come back healthy and effective? Will Seth Jones be as good as Bowman thinks he is? Can Kane and the Cat continue to dominate together? If so, they can be a great sleeper team.
While I like the additions Chicago made in the offseason and the fact they have some really good young players, I don't think they can be expected to finish any higher than fifth (but probably sixth) in the Central (and not making the playoffs if they manage to get fifth – I'll explain this later) this year – on paper, I truly believe Colorado, Winnipeg, St. Louis, and maybe Minnesota (_if_ they can resign Kaprizov) have much better teams and they'll have to work like hell to stay ahead of both Dallas and Nashville.
It's expected that the only truly weak team in the Central is going to be Columbus – this may hurt whoever gets the fifth spot in the Central when you have three decent teams fighting for the fifth (and possibly a crossover playoff spot). Based on the how evenly matched a lot of the teams in the Central are, I'm rather skeptical on whether or not the fifth-place team in the Central will have enough points to get a crossover spot – a lot will depend on how well they do against the other three divisions.
9.5 mil for a questionable elite defender
There a rumors Hawks are shopping Strome, De haan, Subban
Love that your cat's admiring its reflection in the YouTube award at the beginning of the video
the blackhawks will finished ahead of the coyote in the central
Love the hat, can I ask where you got it? Great content as always
If coyotes touch young boys for checking their status and loose picks for that the punishment must be severe than coyotes otherwise it's a scandal
Speaking of Hawks brothers, Phil and Tony Esposito never played for the Hawks at the same time. It almost happened when Phil was traded by the Rangers to Chicago for Jimmy Harrison circa '78 or '79. But the deal fell through, as Harrison failed his physical.
For my prediction, I think the Blackhawks will make the playoffs by finishing either 4th or 5th then get curb stomped in the first round. I think making the playoffs alone would make me happy,
Really liking the thought of Fleury & Lankinen tandem in net. Fingers are crossed for Fleury having a great season & Lankinen continuing to improve and be solid on his nights. Fleury & Hellebuyck are my favourite goalies and to have one of them as a Hawk is awesome.
Can’t help but feel that $9.5 mil AAV contract for Jones would have been better used on another player considering there is still uncertainty with Toews health. Imagine a line containing DeBrincat-Eichel-Kane, if the right trade could have been made.
Do think they will get in to the playoffs this year, and maybe convince Marc to play just 1 more year after.
Chicago has a guaranteed spot in the playoffs this year. Championship though? Maybe, but not likely.
i wanna see that series very much so and vegas is good but tbey dont have no patrik kane level player
Is it Bye-Bye Malcolm Subban?
FOUR goalies?? Where does that leave Subban and Delia?
As a Vegas fan, I'd definitely cheer for Fleury over Vegas in a Chicago vs Vegas series
As a Vegas and Chicago fan… no, I do not want to see that matchup.
Going to be funny when everyone shows up at T-mobile with Chicago Fleury jersey's on ……..
As a Chicago fan I can say with the upmost confidence that I don't want to see a series against Vegas
Looks like management listened to Toews. Good for them
I like them for 4th in the division and possibly a wild card spot
gaudette has reportedly added 20lbs of muscle this offseason.
fleury and the hawks anthem this season will be "the big payback" by james brown. que the music!!
mini run!! toews, kane, and fleury wanna score #4.
They can't do anything about Chicago's 1st round pick next year because it belongs to Columbus. I think that move was tactical.
Depends on other teams injuries IMO….Also Kirby Dach needs to become a force IMO and Caleb Jones needs to pay dividends
Reichel – Toews – Kubalik
DeBrincat – Dach – Kane
Gaudette – Johnson – Kurashev
Hagel – Borgstrom – Carpenter
DeHaan I guess… – S. Jones
McCabe – Murhpy
Beudin – Mitchell
Fleury
Lankinen
Subban
i think people underrate lankinen. the blue line for the hawks is one of the worst in the league. if lankinen was on another team with a better D core, his numbers would be even better than they were in his best part of the year. Fleury is going to have to get used to the chicago defense and i’m worried about how he will perform. going from a stacked D core in vegas, and to a mediocre at best hawks core but with extremely talented offense. we’ll see.
Some reasons I feel good about next season: Dach was hurt a lot of last season and should have a great year, Toews is skating and looks good, Gaudette has added 20+ pounds of lean muscle mass this offseason, one of Kalynuk, Mitchell, Beaudin likely takes a big step, Reichel may be ready already, and of course all the additions.
GREAT VID
You have the same calendar as my brother and we have a similar cat scratch post
Nylander, another bust Sabres top 10 pick
Forwards scoring drops off way sooner than mid 30s
the hawks top forward prospects are… reichel, barratt, altybarmakian, and dach. the hawks top defensive propsects are… vlasic, kaiser, phillips, and allan (2021 1st round pick). the forwards (especially the first 3) are more likely to make their debut's this season before any of the defensive prospects.
I still dont know why they got Fleury. At that cap-hit, especially since i think Lankinen should be a NHL starter. Chicago noticed him too late. They had the rights to him; he had a .940 SSV% in the finnish league in 2017/2018 already; then had his breakthrough as Finlands goaltender in the 2019 IIHF Worlds, leading Finland to victory with a .942 SSV%, only better in that tournament was Vasilevsky. Yet they didnt give him a shot in the NHL and had him sit in the AHL for a year.. i think they did everything with Lankinen 1-2 years too late; if he had anpther season he might be an established starter and they wouldve spent that 7 Million in Cap space more wisely than on Fleury.
Jones is an elite defence man.
They signed a FA last year from the same team in Europe than Kubalik, Matej Chalupa. I tought he would maybe have a shot this year, any Blackhawks fan here having a tought about him?
The real question is regarding the central, who misses out on the playoffs along with Arizona? Will it be Chicago, Nashville, Winnipeg or Minnesota?
I am a lifetime Blackhawks fan, and while I am encouraged by Bowmans off season moves, I think a lot of things have to work out for Chicago to make the playoffs. I am concerned that Jeremy Coliton is a weak coach. His defensive system allows too many shots on net for example and he does not match up well with experienced coaches in the playoffs. We will see. It will be interesting to watch this season.
Chicago Blackhawks Needs Freshman players getting numbers 10 13 24 15 14 16 40 72 42 25 64 65 6 28 44 47 50 2 7 27 6 81 In the Indian head
I Have them at 4th in the central snaging a wildcard spot, I think this teams added too much talent in the off-season to not finally push through.
AS much as I despise Chicago – it is good to see a fellow Original 6 franchise do well.
dach – cat – kane
toews – gaudette/johnson – kubalik
strome – johnson/gaudette – kurashev
borgstrom – nylander – bagel
connolly, carpenter, khaira, entwistle, hardman
dehaan – s.jones
mccabe – murphy
stillman/c.jones – mitchell/kalynuk
beaudin – regula
fleury
lankinen
subban
Go hawks
Yes. I want to see that (Hawks/Vegas) series.
Chicago 5th or 6th or wildcard berth. Honestly, that acquiring of goaltender Fluery from Vegas is going to hurt them.
Watch every game the Blackhawks play. The guy who has never impressed me is Kirby Dach. We will see
