Still in his 20's?….If the Leafs don't want him, maybe the Oilers should inquire. True he was on waivers last year, but It's not the worst resume of available goalies.
You gotta figure Murray has NEGATIVE trade value. Even with significant salary retained. What would Ottawa have to give up for Toronto to “take him off our hands.” Or is Leafs management really that stupid. I don’t know. Either the Leafs are stupid in acquiring him. Or the Sens are stupid for giving something away to be rid of Murray. And everyone knows BOTH scenarios are entirely possible. 😳

Dubas you can have your Soo Greyhound goalie he's all yours, like Murray can be good if healthy at times and that's becoming less and less each year and his contract is well it speaks for itself. As a Sens fan why would they take Mrazek and eat part of Murrays contract. Mrazek just a signed 3 year 3.8 million per year contract in 2021 just how much do expect the Sens to eat of Murrays contract? Not that much room between 3.8 and 6.5 million and here Leaf fans thought Murray was the over paid goalie i say Mrazek is to. 2.7 million dollar difference just how much do you expect the Sens to eat of Murray's contract Leaf fans?

In 2024-25, when his $6 million contract expires and he is a UFA, he would be an attractive guy to bring into the Canucks organization for Ian Clark and Curtis Sanford to rehabilitate. If it works sell him for assets or keep him as a backup for Demko. But it makes no sense for the Leafs. Their goaltending coach couldn't help Campbell he is not likely to help Murray. And he is too expensive as a backup. Oilers would be a good fit though. They love hiring backups to be their starter.
Toronto is where goalies go to be eventually crucified by the press.

Mrazek is due for a sub-2.60 season next year. Look at his past as a starter; the only time that he broke from a good season/bad season pattern is when he split a “good year “ between two teams. In the first half of the year, he had an improved season over the previous one with Detroit; after being traded to Philly, he had a bad season. The next year he had a good year, starting the cycle over again.

I called this a month ago! Mrazek and a 3rd to Buffalo for a 4th. Then Holl to Ottawa for Murray.
If Toronto can put Murray on LTIR and make a cap reduction its beneficial.But Cambell makes a lot of sense for Ottawa.Ottawa would need to move Gustaffson for a pick.
The sens don't need another goalie for now. They already announced that they are looking for a high end forward and a veteran defenseman. Really they need two more forwards. Besides, they have goalie anton forsberg's deal for 3 years starting this coming season and Fillip Gus on a one way NHL deal starting then as well. They would probably retain 50% of Murray's salary just to get rid of the headache of having 3 goalies and ask the leafs for a forward prospect in return. They have lots of young defensemen coming up but their forward prospects aren't doing as well apparently as they should be. They are described as a bit "thin" in that department. I can see them jumping on a chance to rid themselves of Murray even with retained salary. Their cap space is good for now and even retaining 50% of Murray's salary gets them a little over 3 million more in cap space to help find that superstar/scoring forward and veteran D man they said they need. I think they will work on the goalie position after everything else is fixed up and some old contracts expire (within the next two years for most of the bad ones they have) because they consider Anton Foresberg steady and good enough for now while Mads Sogarrd in the AHL gets ready to come up. I think they plan on having him as at least backup for quite awhile unless he surprises everyone and becomes that really good solid goalie they need. If not, they have 3 years of Anton to hold the fort while they fix the top six and grab a veteran D. They are in good shape. And this is coming from a Rangers fan.
