Well, kind of late to be informing Wheels that he is no longer the captain. I wonder if this could have been handled with a little more finesse. He was clearly uncomfortable in the news conference and rightfully so. I hope he channels the energy from whatever anger and resentment he may have about this decision into his play this season. There is more than one way to lead a team and he is right, you don't need a letter on your jersey to do it. Go Wheels!

Thank goodness for the change, finally. The further away from Maurice the better especially having a coach who goes in the dressing room and actually runs it.The very unfortunate part is Chevy is still here especially without out a lot of success. The tough part was giving up draft picks for old washed up players to make Maurice happy and not allowing young players a chance.
We will now see how much and how they will accept their new roles to actually play hard and win in a jets jersey and truly see if they put their words where their mouth is, talks done boys time to step up. Honestly if you need Wheeler to win then sadly Chevy has definitely dropped the ball.Let's hope in the future the g m does not sign another 30 plus player to an extended contract that handcuffs the team in the future. Let's stop signing other teams rejects and actually give our own draft picks as few as we've had lately and stand by them.
Loving Bowness’ answers here. Not claiming to have all the answers, just says ‘Give us some time, and we will find the answers’. Notable difference in the way questions are answered from the coach to GM now. PoMo and Chevy are/were very much the same in that they would say a lot without saying anything of substance. Bowness is far more direct and matter of fact. Between that and stating “there will be a new leadership group here” by stripping the letter off the captain, he’s grabbing the players’ attention. He’s definitely grabbing some respect from the get go. Will be very interesting to see if he can make this group work. If he can, he should get Jack Adams consideration.
What a terrible way to reward a guy who gave his heart and soul to the team. He's being punished for not taking sh!t from the likes of Laine and Kane….They were shut down when they put their own B.S (Beating women…Video games.) above the team. Wheeler is an old school guy and he wasn't going to stand for that stuff. Now they want to cater to the millennial brats who went crying to the media when they weren't allowed to do whatever they wanted whenever they wanted. I hope Wheeler demands a trade, because he deserves better than how you guys have treated him…..and when the inmates start running the asylum?…..Then you won't know what you had till it's gone….This is ALL about cow-towing to self-entitled BRATS!……Hey guys, you earned what you'll get by this display of disloyalty. I'm surprised that Wheeler was surprised at the announcement. It seems like everyone else saw it coming. He did a great job as captain, in my opinion, the first couple of years, but his leadership has certainly fallen off. Also, he did not respond to Bowness after Bowness was named coach. I felt that was inappropriate.
