We gonna live and die on goaltending and injuries this year.

On the one hand, Fuck The Rangers.
On the other hand, this feels a bit hard for me to believe.

EH is usually bullish on us. It looks a little crazy but it’s only 3 more wins than what the Athletic is projecting (~90 points). If we get decent goaltending this year, I do think we’re right in that group of the Pens, Caps and Rags.

We don’t have a goalie or a coach.

I will take the under on this prediction.

I mean, the way this happens is age finally catches up to Pitt and Wash, Islanders struggle scoring, and the Rags aren’t as good as they seem and Shesterkin cant duplicate his numbers from last year. And all that happens while the Devils take the leap forward we’ve been waiting for and at least one of the goalies play like a no-questions-asked starter.
Now, if you were gambling, I could see making that bet because the odds would be good and it’s not completely impossible that all that happens. I just have a hard time believing an imperial, statistical model would predict all that.

How accurate has their predictions been in the previous seasons?

You know what? I’m ready to be hurt again

This feels like the « everything aligns » model; this is where I’d put us in a few years. I’d be very happy with 90 points this year.
But hey, yolo, let’s fucking go.

I’m choosing to remain optimistic. If the goaltending improves and Hischier returns sooner rather than later, this might not be too far off. The rest of the division has definitely taken a step back in most cases, so this could be an opportunity to strike.

That’s possibly projecting a bit too high. I’m terribly optimistic about the Devils but even then, we’re an upstart wildcard team at best.

Well this beings me joy to see.
Rags at 50/50 based off this too
