  1. Miller need a big package in return from New Jersey not just first picked or second round conditional first a roster player or two need 6 players in Return

  2. It's funny; Vancouver and New Jersey are basically in the same spot of their rebuilds and yet I'm supposed to believe that Miller, a guy that should be traded to help Vancouver's future will somehow be perfect for New Jersey's despite the teams being in the same phase of the rebuild… Rightttt.

Also, as others have pointed out, the 2OA it's very different than other first round picks. So when he was asking for a first round pick, a roster player, and a strong prospect for Miller; I am assuming that was in reference to a late first round draft pick from a contender and not a top 3 pick.

  3. That would be sweet if the Canucks could grab the 2nd overall. Maybe trade back with Seattle to 4 and grab the 35th and a 3rd. jiricek/nemec, 35th, and a 3rd sounds like good way to bolster the prospect pool. The additional picks would give them a little bit more flexibility with the 15th in case they saw someone dropping down late in the top 10 they would actually have the ammunition for a trade.

  4. I would love to see Slafkovský playing next to Jack Hughes… It is a great and supportive environment in contrast with Montreal. He can fully reach his potential in NJ.

  5. To NJ : JT Miller Canucks retain 1m
    T.Myers Canucks retain 1m
    2023 Rangers 4th round pick

    To: Canucks : 2022 2nd overall pick
    Pavel Zacha

  6. For New Jersey, the Miller trade, would be the height of irresponsibility. People are also mistakenly believing that Vancouver holds all the cards here: they don’t, New Jersey does. Here’s the deal: Zacha+Bratt+2OA FOR Quinn Hughes, 15thOA, OEL. That’s the deal that would work for both sides. Jack has emphatically stated that he DREAMS of having BOTH brothers on his team. The Devils would move MOUNTAINS to keep him happy.

  7. I don't understand why there is so much talk of Vancouver retaining salary to trade Miller. He has outperformed his contract and is likely to do so again next year. If anything that sounds like a Benning move to me. They would have to get something PROVEN to be better than Miller to retain any salary to pull the trigger on that deal A 2nd overall pick is very good don't get me wrong but that is in no way proven to be better than Miller. As for it being Miller's first 30 goal season? ….don't forget not only all the assists he's had over the years and also the fact that He went from being on some very deep teams to a tire fire team that's only finally making some headway.

Quite frankly….I'd rather they DIDNT trade him. His value to the Canucks should be much higher than he probably would be for most teams that only need one more piece of the puzzle but a first rounder is just not enough

  8. I'd rather see Garland, 15th and a sweetener for 2nd OA. I'm sure NJ fans wouldn't want that, but I think management would at least consider it. That's all though; I think getting an actual package for Miller is more valuable for where the Canucks are in their retool.

  9. Pretty sure the Rangers won't make any big trades unless TB comes back to win the series in 6.

  10. I dont see this happening 1 for 1. Both teams I think feel they would need more. And if can happen I would think paying Miller 8 or 9 million for a 3 or 4 years would be a mistake by NJ. You also have to find out what Bratt will be getting cause he is looking for a nice new contract increase of around 6 million or higher. This would have a impact on how much the Devils would be paying Miller.

  11. Canucks fan here….. The reality is moving out Miller now opens up another 5.25 for cap space this upcoming year along with the potential 7-9 against the cap the years to follow. I see all kinds of possibilities with Miller gone. In my head the Canucks get most likely some decent assets back in a Miller trade along with the space to add a UFA say Malkin or Giroux? They also want to be faster on the backend so adding a UFA RHD like Letang is Possible? Vancouvers current management is in fact Pittsburghs old Management. With Miller gone Malkin would easily be the top line Center with a Petty and Boeser on his wings? Podkolzon a fellow Russian would also latch on to Malkin……. Anyway Boeser is the only real Canuck currently in need of a contract, IMO he gets 6.5-7.5 with prob a length of 4-6 years. Canucks are listed to have 11.5 currently in salary cap space. Bunch of league minimum contracts they can retain on the bottom lines…. Salary cap figures don’t include LTIR either and Ferland will be to start next season Poolman might be, so basically the Canucks have over 15 million in current salary cap space with the potential Poolman LTIR and Miller trade of have over 20 million in cap space….. Anything is possible with a new management group in place!

  12. As a devils fan I wouldn’t trade the second overall for miller. Maybe if the devils can talk w him prior and make a deal to extend his contract after the trade. He does bring an element that the devils need and he would be a great veteran for the young kids. However, you’re trading the opportunity for a top two pick who could become an absolute star that will be cost controlled for years and years to come. Even with an extension I’m assuming Miller would get $9-$10million average per year. That kind of contract would be the highest on the team and have the chance to go sour well before the contract is close to being over. He plays a hard nosed game and I’d be worried about a decline in play once he is 32-33. Dude is a great player, don’t get me wrong…I just wouldn’t sacrifice the 2nd overall for him at the point. If I’m fitz I Draft Slafkovsky/Cooley or move back in the draft with a team like Seattle to #4 pick up some more assets and Draft a guy like Nemec or Jiricek who would also fill a huge organizational need.
