  1. This is awesome breaking news, indeed–the Isles really needed to get this done to stabilize the future–total win for them and for him–he will be the cornerstone of the team for years to come, and IMHO, his producution will increase as well.

  2. He's getting over a million more per year than Jack Hughes. I'll just leave that there. Talk amongst yourselves.

  3. Yes it is a smart move by the Islanders, and your right they have to get a winger that can play with him..and I do like what you said about shooting more definitely on the pp…

  4. So based on 82 regular games and an average of 20 minutes per game this means he will make roughly 11 892$ an hour playing hockey. Absolute joke considering that in Canada today there are millions of people who can`t afford groceries for their families, who can`t afford housing, who have to keep two jobs to afford necessities, countless amount of homeless. Canadian Veterans who served for 25 years that have to get a job after serving for another 20 years in order to survive and support their loved ones because their pension is not enough to cover the basics. Hockey players play for 10 years and are set for life, meanwhile the average Joe can`t afford to go see a game because the seats are too expensive. Shove those millions!!

  5. Lot of money for a guy getting around 60 points a year, but he plays on a d first type team, and has no scoring winger. He is capable of 90 points a year in the right situation. I guess GM "Sleepy Lou" was waiting to see the numbers for projected salary cap increases. They needed him to stay, and wisely have made sure of that. Now just get him a damn goal scoring winger, or that contract is going to look bad more sooner than later.

  6. I think Lou got a decent deal. He knows that with proper support, Barzal is good for 90+ a season. The $9.2 mil will age very well over the next 8 years. But to make this REALLY pay off, they need to build their own version of the perfection line.

  7. This is great now trade Bailey and Beauviller to Arizona for a 2nd round pick and offer sheet Jason Robertson and will be golden 👍🏻

  8. Happy as an isles fan but not thrilled with the number. Some of my fellow fans are saying “we should be happy that he didn’t leave” and that shouldn’t be the mindset. I’m hoping the cap drastically goes up and he excels with Lambert’s system.

  9. 59 points last year in 73 games, only 1 season with over 20 goals, only 1 season averaging more than a point per game…..and gets 9 million. way over paid…..
