This reminds me of a story told to me by a buddy.
His dad grew up in the Peterborough area and played pickup hockey. On the ice one day, there’s a new guy out there being a dick. The usual infractions: taking slap shots, slashing, hitting guys into the boards etc. This is all very much frowned upon when guys just want to go out and skate, have a good time.
This all keeps going on until you know who, Bob Gainey, decides he’s had enough and makes a point of pounding this guy into the ice in front of everyone. Absolutely laced right into him.
And people are wondering why we needed an advanced stats department. Give this man a Nobel Prize already!
