ATTENTION LIGHTNING HATERS: It doesn't work like EA Sports NHL '21. BrisBois wasn't simply gifted a bigger check at the beginning of the season to go out and buy a better team. What do Kucherov, Point, Stamkos, Hedman, Vasilevskiy, Killorn and Cirelli all have in common? They were all drafted by Tampa and honed their talents in the Bay. Cernak and Sergachev came in trades well before they established themselves into the blue-liners they've become. Some of these players were 3rd and 4th round pickups.
The truth is BrisBois – understanding the situation before him in regard to Kucherov's surgery and cap space – made the best decision he had available within the bounds of the rules set by the NHL under the CBA. Kuch's return is right in line with established recovery time for the surgery he underwent: 4 – 6 months. He actually played his first game at 4 1/2 months, so if anything his return was rushed, not delayed.
Go ahead and hate our success. Go ahead and complain that it's 'unfair' that Tampa is just too good right now. We'll use the salt in our margaritas watching the finals.

Habs will be smoked this series. They aren't as good as the Islanders. They got fortunate that Vegas treated the win over the Avs like they had won a Cup. I think they had a letdown vs. Montreal. Everyone spoke about the Montreal system, well the Islander play the same way but only better. Habs won't get past 5 games vs Tampa.

Salary tax really does not work. If moneyball did not come about it would yanks dodger Cubs Red Sox every year. Moneyball has the little guy jumping in with them because of low price talent, still behind the top teams in salary. Not even close. Most Canadian team would become farm teams for all cal teams, NY, Chi. Price would be out of Mtl now if the tax was in place. Probably would be a Ranger right now. Fix the playoff salary cap and it would be fine. Close other loopholes as the come up.
