Hi Gil,
Which of these would you say the Isles prob are at end of yr (as currently constructed) and where might we be by adding JT?
1. Better than last year
2. Fringe playoff/wild card team (maybe)
3. Early playoff exit team
4. True cup contender
imo, if they can come up with a suitable trade for JT then let the islanders talk to JT. otherwise they should try to re-sign him. the canucks are looking for a d-man that can play on their top pair with quinn hughes. i still think NJ makes the best pool to pick from. i hope JT goes to someone who believe they can win the stanley cup.
I noticed that you do your live cast at around midnight in the eastern time zone. I don't think you'll get many Islanders fans watching that late, especially during the week.
The money is not there for this…I would not include a number 1 especially next year..Keep this team the same its on Lou…a new GM before the draft might just be able to work some new guy on the block magic..Leave this alone..besides he will be available at the deadline or next summer
I think this is similar to the Kadri situation. He's 30. He'll want a six or even a seven year deal. You'll have to give up several assets to get him. He's coming off a career year. Keep in mind he came into the league at a very young age. He's an old 30.
I'd be more interested in Jason Robertson if Dallas can't get him signed
Surprised that Auty Raty is on the list so low
No Deal ripped us off in that deal Miller will finished his contract in Vancouver
I’m gonna go on a limb here and say maybe let’s see, maybe lamberts approach can have whalstrom and maybe bellows produce. I’d much rather had seen a F/A signing rather than sacrifice any young players. I also wouldn’t mind seeing a Bailey trade for a seventh defense man or back up goalie if they can move varly. They need to get younger not older in my opinion
As much as JT Millers contract talks have not gotten anywhere and it’s imminent he’ll be traded. I didn’t realize how NYI would be in the same position with Barzel. Any GM will get Barzel a top tier wing man to make their one and only star player happy to re-sign. Was the cost of dumping Beaulivierre/Bailey salary too much to swallow. Has Lou even started contract extension with Barzel? I know VAN has since Jan. I mean, wasn’t the reason Tavers left was because he had no help on his wing. Miller is a perfect wingman who can also help form a second scoring line. Kadri was 2C in COL and that’s his niche. Lou should of taken Miller for No.13 but instead he opted for Romanov whom is not a top prospect at least according to the athletic rating. His inability to handle the puck does not even sound like a hockey player. I’m sorry for being blunt. Lou will justify it by stating he also got a 4th but with Miller, he would have to add young prospects (the only one I can think is Dobson which is a no go for Lou) or more picks. Since NYI has no other prospects to offer (RHD), Lou should offer 2023 1st unprotected and Mayfield, VAN sends Miller and Poolman (Possible LTIR to give flex), Schenn is the only RHD that can play with Hughes.
Miller is the straw that stirs the drink in vancouver… whoever signs him long term is getting an absolute fkn beauty of a player
