@Kings de Los Angeles

1. Serious thanks to _Shawarmaman_, Benjamin Kassel, and countless others for suggesting this episode. Let us know what you think would make for a good Rewinder down below. Love you.

  2. Please do Alec Martinez’s goal from 2014 Stanley Cup Finals. It’s too good not to do a rewinder for that.

  3. I grew up playing hockey I’m 30 now I only really play drop in hockey, but in the 80s goalies sucked which was good cuz so did players sticks. But seriously look the goalie for the kings wouldn’t even dropped down on low shots… crazy how far the game has come.

  4. I mean 2003 cup, Kariya/Scott Stevens deserves a rewind. “off the floor, on the board” always gives me chills

  5. The LA GM went out to his car at the beginning of the 3rd period and remained in the parking lot for the entire comeback that game.

  6. As an Islanders fan, two things.

    #1. Thanks for the mention of the Isles Dynasty in this video
    #2. The Islanders upset of the Penguins in 1993 is tailor made for a rewind, video paused right before Ferraro makes the pass that Volek nets for the series winner.. There is so much to focus on. How the goal scorer, David Volek was in Al Arbours' doghouse most of the season. How the Islanders star, Pierre Turgeon was hurt by a gutless check by Dale Hunter in the previous series and missed most of this series. Glenn Healys' brilliant performance in game 7. Then focusing on how great this Penguins team was, the Kevin Stevens scary injury, the fact that the Penguins came back from down 3-1 late just to force OT.

  7. Game 7 1979 Conference Finals Montreal vs Boston, controversial high-sticking call and late too many men. Lafleur score tying goal on an amazing slapshot and Montreal goes on to win the last cup of their dynasty. Also Don Cherry’s last game with Boston

  8. Messier…"elbows, sticks, knives, guns"….whatever he can use, the dirty bastard.

  9. In Edmonton the game is remembered as the biggest choke ever. Most viewers in eastern Canada went to bed with the Oilers well ahead, and were surprised to find out the next day that they'd lost. If I recall correctly, "Hockey Night in Canada" provided a better view of the game than you see here. I don't know if the audio of Rod Phillips' call on CFRN still exists, but he called it with the excitement it deserved. When the tying goal was scored, he screamed, "The Edmonton Oilers have blown this hockey game!"

    This was only the second NHL game (game 2 was the first) for Edmonton's Randy Gregg, who had been playing in Japan for a couple of years.

  10. It was a landmark moment for two different reasons. For Edmonton it was them learning lessons when playing undisciplined against teams whom on paper were less valuable than a bag of pucks – on their way up to 5 cups in 7 seasons. For Los Angeles, it was their only notable high point in the 80s on their way down into punching bags for divisional rivals to get easy wins against until a certain savior from Edmonton arrived and turned their fortunes back.

  11. We need more older Rewinders like this one to educate us youngins. I feel like most of the Rewinders lately are from events that happened less than ten years ago haha

  12. I was there. The roar of the crowd (many of whom had left during the second intermission but returned after Simmer's goal), never subsided from the time that red beacon lit up in OT, through the walk through the Forum parking lot, through the walk to my car parked in the Hollywood Park lot, that lot's exit, and could still be heard driving down Century Blvd.

  13. Was a Kings fan since the 74-75 season, before Dionne. A very big reason Kings hockey exploded in L.A. in the 70's was Bob Miller, the best announcer in NHL hockey. Your review of that famous, unforgettable game was exceptional. Thanks.
