They Arnt tanking for bedard, are they a playoff team probably not, but they won’t be basement dwellers

Someone doesn’t watch this team and it’s evident. They aren’t tanking. They probably won’t be a playoff team but also probably won’t be a bottom-5 team.
Also the hindsight take on Tarasenko is tired, dude was coming off shoulder surgery, nobody knew if he’d bounce back, a lot of analysts were saying he was washed, besides with his contract we don’t pull off the Bjorkstrand trade.

Francis is too competitive, too clever, and too smart to tank. It’s a build effort, for sure, but tanking isn’t the goal.
Grub had good stats going into last year, then he shat his shorts. That was not in the plan.

No point in tanking when there’s a draft lottery.

Nobody is out-tanking Arizona, Montreal or Chicago this season

1. Tanking wouldn’t explain half the moves they made in the off-season, most notably Bjorkstrand. If they were tanking, why would they give up the cap space this year?
2. The Athletic projects Seattle as a borderline playoff contender, and have the models to back it up, which I trust a hell of a lot more than these guys. They’re not bottom feeders this year
tl;dr not tanking

I don’t think they are tanking at all, btw.

They are not tanking. I see them being a middle team and not making the playoffs. Ownership knows they need to start winning and if goaltending wasn’t so terrible, this team would not be a bottom team.

To add to all of the good comments in the thread already, Seattle can’t afford to tank. If they go full bottom feeder, seats are going to start emptying. You can’t have some of the most expensive tickets in the NHL and then put a garbage product on the ice.
