Uh, yes I can. I'll say it again, cost us the cup! Shuchuk, Are you serious? We're talking about a Hall of Famer. The Kings had one of the best power plays that year that all of a sudden became dismal from March through the playoffs. Jimmy Carson? How many games did that truck play in. 2 maybe. None after the 2nd round for sure. Yes the Wings lost and Coffey had 11 points. Yeah you're right, I'd rather have Schuchuk. Oh yeah, I think Potvin was on Toronto that year.
Aging? He had 57 points in 50 games and was a +16. He also as might recall won the Norris trophy in 95. I personally asked Barry Melrose and he said, " cost us the cup". Gretzky feels the same way. Jimmy Carson was one of the most 1 dimensional selfish players I've ever had the displeasure to watch. But wow, he hit the post in overtime! WE WOULD HAVE WON WITH COFFEY!
… I agree, it cost the Kings a Cup for sure. By the time the Kings were in the playoffs, almost all of their offense was being generated from the transition game. And NOBODY was better at getting the transition game started than Paul Coffey.
This opened up an old wound…damn…heartbreaker…yeah, Coffee could have helped sure…just as Montreal losing to Quebec in round 1 would have helped too…Playing the Canadiens in the playoffs let alone the finals is usually a tough road…I blame Quebec…and Leclair and Desjeardins and Roy…and the Montreal Forum…and Frasier…and…
