Scott Wedgewood! WOW! Unbelievable performance as the Stars were able to pick up two HUGE points on the road against a team tied for the second best record in the league! The play in front of him needs to be a lot better though, but a win is win! He should start again on Saturday night against the Canucks. The Stars are now set at goaltender with Oettinger and Wedgewood!
i wouldn't jump on the Wedgewood hype train too soon, this is simply regular Canes hockey – outshoot the opponent like 10 shots to one yet still have no idea how to score 🙄
1- Stop calling Wedgewood a backup goaltender. He and Otter are fantastic and are going to share the load and the games. NO doubt about that. What a surprise. Wedgewood's value is about to sky-rocket if he keeps playing like this. 2- Robertson had a rare off game tonight. 3- Seguin seems to be recovering and getting back to a solid brand of hockey (going to the net, shooting, skating to the net, being more aggressive) that we need from him, especially at his cap space. He is not all the way where I think we would like him, but defintie improvement from the start of the season. 4- Hintz does it again and finishes. Joe Pavelski was phenomenal. Benn played pretty smart. Gurianov showed up. 5- Everyone skated extremely well, and even more importantly they passed the puck well, tape to tape. 6- Our defensive positioning was great. Right in the passing and shooting lanes making it damn difficult for Carolina to get some quality shots on net. Of course they did, I mean it is Carolina, but good job on D from offense and defense. 7- Studenic and Namestnikov are throwing their weight around and making their presence known on ice. As long as they don't start taking stupid and unnecessary penalties as Benn has a tendency to do, we are in such a good spot. 8- Klingberg. The past 2 weeks he has been great. His puck posession and control have been significantly better and stronger and he is getting to the net without risking his position as a D man. 9- Dallas PP goes quiet again. That can't happen and we need to start getting more dangerous on the PP and get some solid scoring chances and create some havoc and desperation. 10- Confidence and urgency. I don't know what has changed, maybe it is the addition of who we acquired via trade, but Dallas seems to actually be competing for the puck. Skating harder, shooting harder, fighting harder. Good to see considering we are barely hanging on to the second wild card spot and this is it. Teams are very soon going to be knocked out of Playoff contention.
