I played about with some different audio effects once again for this video, so if my commentary sounds better/worse, let me know!
Would the Dallas stars fall into this category?
It was great to watch the Kings win the cup twice and getting to watch them raise the banners for their championships while sitting in the middle section of Staples Center. But after 2015, I knew that the era of Kings dominance was coming to a close soon. Hey, at least they might get Jack Hughes, so that’s cool 😂
2 years later: Hello everybody we’re gonna be looking at a YouTube sensation as we ask,Whatever happened to: Odd Man Rush
14:52 Jarome Iginla as well
Ugh. I'm not even a fan of the Rangers, but seeing Lundqvist laying flat on the ice after Martinez scored the cup winner makes me sick to my stomach. He deserved so much better that series.
Waiting to see when the Red Wings wind up here
Manny Fernandez please!!!
The 2015 hawks and ever since have little size
Champs to chumps Dallas stars
I'm shocked you only have 8.6k subs
Anyone else forget about the Devils going that far?
Blackhawks won 3 cups in 6 seasons, not 5. Also, the Blackhawks pretty much started the speed over size trend that is now the formula for success in the NHL today. Theyve never really been a team that had size; grit yes but not size.
This team sucks. And also Slava was the key it affected the team.
Voynov being arrested was the reason that the Kings became chumps as it had sparked Lombardi to make panic moves acquiring guys like Sekera and Lucic.
Do St.Louis? Oh wait..
Honestly kinda sad you didnt mention Simon Gagne as one of the key trade acquisitions for the 2011-2012 season
The way LA won their first cup was much different than the way they won the 2014 cup, in 2012 jonathan quick played absolutely ridiculous, in 2014 the offense pitched in and drew doughty had become a top 3 d man in the league while in 2012 he was on a top 10
Ahh the Kings. The team that tricked teams into going for "heavy hockey" just before speed became the name of the game
Having geriatric people signed to massive conctracts, not a great idea.
Kovalsuck, Doughty for 11-million per year, yeah, time for a rebuild
Right away their story and the hawks story are both similar long ass contracts with players falling off only difference is debrincat and Kane are still good
Fuck the kings
as a kings fan i just want this season to end lmao
Fuck la
They won over 40 playoff games from '12-'14 to winning only a single playoff game in the four postseasons since
I’m a Rangers fan, this really gets me.
Great work on this!
This is what happens when you have no young talent to provide offense. The writing was on the wall last year. The bulk of the Kings offense came from the 30+ year old guys, like Kopitar and Brown. Hardly any help from guys like Taffoli and Pearson and Kempe. And what was their answer this offseason. Signing a 35-year-old Ilya Kovalchuk. What a bust. Outside of Kopitar and Doughty, who have big contracts, everyone else should be expendable. The Kings need to make wholesale changes and get younger, not older.
As a Kings fan idgaf lol 2 cups in 3 years hell yeah it was worth it
I love the King's thanks!
Best analysis of the Kings downfall on the web, big props for this
The Blackhawks. It’s not like they’re doing bad now but they aren’t even playoff contenders now while a few years ago they were possible cup contenders every year. I’m a bruins fan so an episode of that would make me happy lol
Do the flames
Not so much a suggestion for this format, but related, is that I would like to see you analyze the Oilers over the past 10 years. Conversely, I would love to see an analysis of the first year of the Vegas Golden Knights, and their epic run.
You should do the 1989 Calgery Flames. Now that's from Champ to Chump.
I love Kings, and they are going on right direction now, not that they are going for the cup this year, but maybe next year, last seven games looked good with the new roster… Hope this "lockdown" doesn't last long, dam covid…
The 04 lightning would be a good one
Even as a kings fan this is great. Only gripe is how little Doughty is mentioned in the cup run off despite being roughly the third best player in the team. Crazy to see how different the team looks now from when this video was made.
