If there had not been so many NHL coaching vacancies (and Trotz confirmed that he wanted to coach), Trotz would have already been hired and we wouldn't be second guessing whether the decision is right or not.

tnse will never give the keys to the organization regarding player personal to just one person. ever. let alone a coach. he would have a major say just not the final say. no way. and i would bet anything when they met a month ago for their informal talks that was relayed to trotz and if trotz wanted total control chevy would have said no way. the fact they are meeting this week tells me that demand was never expressed cause if it was tnse would walk and if it was a must for trotz he would have walked when chevy would have told him that wasnt happening.

JH contradicts himself. He first states that BT will demand major changes and the changes will take place at the draft and free agency deadlines. Then he states that come Draft day, the coach, whoever that is, including BT, will not be involved because that’s Chevy’s decision. Huh?? Guessing is clearly a Mugs Game and should be taken with a grain of salt. But hey, it gets viewers to watch and sells garage doors and beer.

heh Jeff Hamilton? maybe do your homework! Trotz isn't a guy who squashes offence. He is a guy who demands you play a certain way without the puck! ie. Washington Capitals!!! Come-on you should know this stuff, it's SUPPOSED to be your job. Isn't it? lol
The plan for the Jets according to me.
1. Sign Trotz
2. Re-sign Dubois, Appleton, Harkins, Sanford and Comrie
3. Draft Mateychuk and Lorenz in the first round.
4. Let Perfetti get a bigger role with the team next season.
5. Sign Klingberg in free agenzy, if it’s possible

I love how Jeff is always on point – a great thinker (he bought a ticket once, at a Bomber game, shared it with me, for the 50/50, so I know he's also a great guy) – and I just wanted to throw something out there… Maybe they haven't announced it because they have already agreed with Barry, in principle, and maybe they're talking to some of the people that interest him as staff – and maybe they haven't announced it because they want to make a big production out of it, and that takes a little planning. PS I can't believe TNSE would be hesitant at this point. They know what he wants. If they weren't willing to give him most of it, he would have already walked, or they would have. I think it is just a matter of time – and I mean days.

Chevy has had the 'keys to the car' since 2011/12. He's had a few fender-benders and demerits along the way. But nothing as more glaring as the 'T-bone job' over the past 4 years. Not entirely his fault; blame is shared by Maurice and the roster. However, Chevy is the registered driver of this bus. And maybe, just maybe there's a better driver out there that's safer, more responsible…and has more merits to work with. Perhaps even someone without any ties to the team, city or province. And that is not a bad thing…employing an outsider without any prior connections. Personally…I just have a hard time swallowing all the Trotz-Kool-Aid. I like Hawaiian Punch!
