#EdmontonOilers #Oilers

  1. Re: Toughness issues. Connor McDavid was hitting, I mean HARD. He bounced a guy during the playoffs and we're talking Connor McDavid. If you tick Leon off he'll plant you. Darnell fought a rookie AHL'er TWICE during the PRESEASON (yes, I think it was foolish but it happened). Benson is a Pest. I really hope he comes back fairly soon and gets a chance. Marcus has a laser guidance system and can close very very quickly. The odds of avoiding a hit aren't great if he's got you in his sights. Evander Kane can be downright mean and I appreciate it. Shoot even Nuge, who isn't the biggest guy in the world, fought. Saying they don't have some toughness is like saying shooting yourself in the foot with a howitzer will only give you a flesh wound you can kiss better. Do they have a "Wilson" on the roster? No. Do they need one? No. I'd rather have defensively responsible offensively aware skilled players than other options BUT I also like players who aren't knee high to nothing and would survive a hit by someone who weighs a lot more than they do who is six or more inches taller.

Honestly we'll see. We'll see how they do when it matters. We'll see if the heart and drive are there. I believe it will be, at least I hope it will be. Great vid as always. Take care all.

  2. Nail on the head why have a 4th line 10 goals out of those guys big deal I rather have energy player or tougher player, when team roughs up mcdaver or leon everyone will say oh we should have had a tougher player big mistake Oilers huge.

  3. They have Kane for toughness and deterrence. I think you can also play the type of game where you don’t respond and have a good power play. Get the payback with the wins instead.
I grew up on the 80s Oilers and watched one of the hero’s from the 90 team end up living on the street as a result of concussions. Joe Murphy is in Northern Ontario living on the street last I heard. There was a doc on YouTube about him. I’d rather see the NHL get away from fighting all together and I’d take it further where certain types of hits have zero tolerance. A skilled game where talented players are always playing and not out because of “questionable hits”. I believe they need to further look at what kind of hits are tolerated based on latest concussion information. A speed game with less hitting and better quality of life for the players after retirement.

  4. Oilers will be fine, skill and speed win cups these days just look at colorado
