Rangers waive Gauthier and Tinordi, but not Hunt.
Rosters have to be finalized by 5pm tomorrow. Unless they have something else in the works (very possible), they could be considering starting the season with a full 23-man roster. If they do, I doubt it’s for very long. #NYR https://t.co/NrNuj4V8py

[On Gauthier:](https://twitter.com/vzmercogliano/status/1579177932412813315?s=20&t=Crf58I4r-NMBOak1Bpe-kw) « The Rangers have been trying to trade him for a while, but the rest of the league knew he was unlikely to make the NYR roster and would ultimately be waived. Now we’ll see if anyone claims him, otherwise he’s ticketed for Hartford. »
[On roster size:](https://twitter.com/vzmercogliano/status/1579188915394617344?s=20&t=QvkkSHTZUtQ2VEK057g8uQ) « The priority is still getting to 22 for cap purposes, but they could briefly go with 23 to start the year and protect depth. It’s also possible they start with 22 if Blais goes on IR **or** if a trade happens. »
Drury should waive Hunt, try to sign Simmonds for cheap. Then trade Reaves as early as possible to accumulate cap space for the trade deadline.
Zac Jones and/or Braden Schneider can be demoted on off days to accrue cap space. Technically, that will be a 23 man roster.
Gaut fans in shambles
hope gauthier does well somewhere else but glad they chose to waive him. it’s just not going to work
