@Islanders de New York

1. Barzy not going to sign rn I doubt. He’s going to play into season to see if this yr helps his next contract negotiations or not.

  2. Based on the comments he made once he arrived in Toronto, Tavares always knew he was leaving. I don't put that on the Isles.
    I think these reasons are part of their issue with signing top forwards.
    1) Many forwards don't want to play in a 'clamp it down' defensive system.
    2) They will always be in the shadow of the Rangers.
    3) Players and agents don't like dealing with Lou. It's been reported that Lou makes his offer, then sits back and waits….in effect dropping the ball. There is no real effort to make a UFA eager to play for the Isles.
    4) How quick Lou is to dump good players. Lehner, Toews and Eberle are good examples. I honestly believe Lou shipping Eberle to a team just starting their first year was a shock to other forwards.

    IMO, Barzal wants success, and he needs an honest goal scorer to succeed. If he doesn't get what he needs, he refuses to sign more than one year and goes UFA in 2024, or perhaps signs an offer sheet from the right team.

  3. Barzal wasting away his career in long island. It's bad for NHL as well. On 85-90% of other teams in the league he points 75+ easy and upside to hit 90. Based on his comments though I think you can get him for long term for 8-8.5. but yes it is essentially you lock.him up.
