Calgary fan here. I for one watch your show because it is a work of art in terms of NHL fan shows. We really need a lot more like you. On top of that, I was liking Florida going into the playoffs. You hit the nail right on the head; the Tampa Bay Lightning is a team filled with players willing to make the sacrifices needed to ENSURE a cup, not just give themselves good odds. It's going to take a powerhouse with a ton of heart to knock these guys out of a dynasty. I don't see any team in the west taking them, including Colorado. Worst case scenario for all other NHL teams.
After this playoffs, I will continue to enjoy your show!

I've been a Bolts fan since I left the east coast of FL to go to College in Tampa in 1992. Got lucky they put a hockey team in Tampa in the same year I was in my late teens.
Cooper has always been a proponent of culture over x's and o's. What you are describing is a culture issue. Sergachev, who is having an off year and playoffs, was asked recently about the committment required in the playoffs and blocking shots etc.. He said that because of what the rest of his teammates are doing and his leaders are doing, he "can't not do it as well."
Culture = buy in. We got embarrassed in 2019 by CBJ. This helped Cooper sell what was required to win in the playoffs to the Bolts and in the bubble, you could see that message sink in game by game, round by round. This recipe, as Cooper calls it, is an easier sell at this point because it's been successful. Management does a great job of finding players who fit that culture. See Paul, Hagel, Goodrow, and Coleman. I think this is where Brunette is at a disadvantage. He can't create the culture because he's an interim coach. The culture that the Bolts have was instilled when our owner bought the team and hired Yzerman and Yzerman hired JBB from the MTL organization. JBB found Cooper in the USHL for our farm team. Yzerman found Al Murray to build our stable of prospects and Stacy Roest and many others have invested the time to create the culture from Syracuse on through to Tampa.
I also think you may be a little harsh on Huberdeau, Barkov, Ekblad as your core. The Bolts have been together a LONG time…They failed in 2011, 2015, 2019. Vasy was the last piece of talent we needed + the culture needed to ripen. As long as your management doesn't flip out, you're gonna be fine. I don't want you to be fine because I hate the Panthers =p. I think you're at a precarious point in your organization's history imo. You have to stay the course and build the culture IMO.

I know Stu is looking(obviously)at it from a Panthers standpoint,but Mcdonagh made a hell of a play. It’s easy to say he should have roofed it. That would have taken a bit longer on his stick to pull off possibly letting Vasy get in position. From the outside looking in,I’d say the Panthers need a few grinder types with at least one having a good offensive game to go with it. Some bigger defenseman wouldn’t hurt either. Granted,most games have been tight so it’s not as lopsided as the 3-0 would indicate.
The moment we lose tonight's game Brunette needs to be fired before he even leaves the bench. As much as I opposed the channel on wanting to hire Tortarella as coach all season I have seen what happens when you dont have that type of a coach during the playoffs so I reverse my position & would like to see him on our bench next season. For the second goal, it was a double deflection like Stu said and Chiarot was the one back there. Ekblad was no where to be seen, he was all the way up above the circles leaving Chiarot to deal with both of them which blew my mind how he could have pulled a Weegar and just leave the net ad his man in front.

Bad coaching plain and simple,down 2 in the 3rd pulling the goalie to add an extra attacker…why? They have shown next to zero advantages of the extra attacker when on the power play,and now the just over crowded an area they were hugely sub par in so far. And the empty net goal LOCKS the game.
Huber and Barkov, just don’t have “it”. No heart or fire. (Im taking this shit over effect) Those two are complimentary players or second line players at best! On other NHL playoff teams, even on the team they just beat. The Capitals. Ice bags in the locker room at the end of the game is what wins Championships. I got to meet Sasha where I work here in the Florida Keys, he was on vacation and I got to talk to him for a little while, very shy, humble , a soft talker, very polite and nice. I asked him several questions, but the one question that he provided a response to that was related to hockey was when I asked him how does he like playing hockey and being the captain of the Florida Panthers, his response which I thought was a joke was” it’s OK it’s just a hobby”. I laughed he chuckled but I think the fucking guy was being 100% serious, and it shows in his play he just does not seem like he’s really into it, is it just me? Do all of you see that as well? Because those were his words,I believe it now. Now you got Huberdeau saying who cares they’re down 3-0 It’s pretty obvious these guys don’t care, or have the heart, never mind the balls to do what it takes to win a Stanley Cup. Hey Fluffy I found your channel during the last series against my Capitals. I really enjoy your content and your overall knowledge. I have been a die hard Capitals fan since I went to my first game against the Islander when I was 7 years old back in 1986. During the last series against my Caps I kinda knew you guys were going to win all along but every issue I saw with the Panthers ( which you were great about talking about ) led me to believe you guys were going to be in a world of hurt once you faced Tampa Bay. Aside from the fact they have won the last 2 Cups they play a more physical, defensive style of hockey with a better goalie then Washington could produce. While the Caps got a lot of scoring from their lines other then the top line I kept saying that Tampa Bay had too much offensive firepower. The anemic power play of Florida and defensive laziness is killing you guys. As someone who knows all too well the feeling of having your team destroy the league during the regular season then not make it past the 2nd round I feel your pain. Anyways, great channel and you have a new subscriber.
The thing about blocking shots…. Getting hit can fire you up, pumps you up with adrenaline. Obviously unless the puck hits you in the wrong spot and ends up hurting like hell instead. But that’s how you can get some extra energy, really shows how much more the bolts want it than the cats. When I was a kid and a teen, I played baseball, and at the batting cages i used to let one of the balls hit me so I’d get fired up and be more focused on the next pitches. Just saying this because looking at these past couple games from Florida, there’s no energy out there, something’s gotta happen to get em pumped up. And it’s not like blocking shots is something the cats are incapable of doing.

Without playoff experience you will likely never go very far in the playoffs. That’s why it takes teams years to win the cup. Tampa are the perfect example. They’ve been one of the best teams in the nhl for the past decade, but it only clicked two years ago. Panthers are a great team but they just don’t have « IT » yet. With the right ajustements and with time, I’m convinced they’ll win a cup. Go cats!

I'm a Tampa guy and I have to say you guys definitely called it right. I'll be subscribing and catching you guys when I want to get some intel on the Panthers. I don't know your team but when we won the President's cup and got knocked out in four to the Columbus Jackets, changes were made. As it relates to changes Jon Cooper said after we lost, "We needed to get harder to play against" he then said, "harder yrs. ago used to mean physical, fighting, big, strong, and now today it means compete, speed and kind of in-your-face hockey." in other words to your point jump in front of the puck and block it and don't back down from anybody.
As a Bolt's fan, I feel your pain… 3 years ago when every TB fan thought we were going to play for the cup… Columbus sent us packing 4-0 sweep. Columbus created the "Monster" that TB has become… they have not forgotten that embarrassment.
Brian saying he still believes. Believes in what? This dismal product the Panthers are putting on the ice this whole series? Believe that Huberdeau saying "who cares" is cryptic code for "we actually care"? Believe that Barkov is going to suddenly become willing to put his body on the line to support Sergei? What reason have they given us to believe in anything other than just losing tonight and at least this nightmare of a second round is over?
See that clip of Cooper’s will v skill speech in the Tb locker room. That says it all. Series in a nutshell. And it’s a horrible look for the Florida Panthers franchise. We had the better overall team. Tb has the will. And now this season will simply be known as the President’s trophy winning skill team that wilts when the games matter most

It’s obvious your team doesn’t have a good deliverer of the puck or hockey quarterback if you will. For Tampa it’s obviously Kucherov or Hedman. You can have all the talent in the world but if the coaching isn’t there 🤷♂️

For me, the story is Claude Giroux. He is not a winner. He is not a leader. He has phenomenal hockey skills, but he lacks intangibles that lead to Ws. Philly willed him to be something he wasn't and Giroux sold them that dream as long as he could. When the alarm clock went off, he fucked the franchise that gave him everything, went to a front runner that lacked EXACTLY what he couldn't provide, and got bounced in 4 in round 2. That's how I see it.
