I think Holtz should stay in Utica for at least one more season. Let him perfect his reads on North American ice. I want to see the young guys be confident on where to be on break outs and defensive zone positioning. If all of our young forwards were better at that we'd have a lot less issues better positioning and reads, cleaner break outs leads to more offensive zone time and then they can fire away. I think we've already screwed the pooch by throwing some players to the fire and letting them learn the hard way in the NHL. That's just my 2 cents.
Hopefully we can get Fiala or Tkachuk. Might be worth looking at Marner too and seeing what we can do. Fitz could definitely rob Dubas blind. I also don’t think Leafs will have the money for Jack Campbell and he may be a great option to have in net with Blackwood although he is injury prone 🙁

But yeah, the devils really need more intimidators, we are a bit on the weak side compared to the teams that are now in play-offs
So I have more faith in Shara and Mercer, Shara is easily a lock for 20 goals next year (I think he hits 30) sure he struggled early in the year but he's young and worked through it that happens. He has a laser of a shot, he wins his share of puck battles, strong skater, good with his stick defensively. Yeah Mercer hit the rookie wall but I find it kinda odd how you're naturally presuming these young guys are going to struggle/regress next year instead of continuing their growth and getting better with experience.
As for the 2oa, if we pick Slafkosky he could make the team out of camp (not saying he necessarily should). However personally I'm full team trade for Tkachuk and would even be willing to give up and Eichel level package for him (2oa, Smith, Zacha, 2023 2nd).
The Devils will trade Michael McLeod, prospects Alexander Holtz and Shakir Mukhamadulin and the 2nd pick in the upcoming 2022 NHL Entry Draft to the Wild for Kevin Fiala and sign Johnny Gaudreau from the Flames in the upcoming offseason.
Don't trade that 2nd overall!! Slafvkosky is the winger we want. Try and make a trade that dosent involve or 2nd ovr pick. Like zacha, prospect, 2nd round + for a skilled winger .
They need a No. 1 center (step in just in case Hughes goes down again), a No. 1 d-man and a No. 1 goalie. A new coach would help too
The devil's defense side of the hockey needs to improve the devil's are a young core team I going to hope a GM can fix it I seen The darkest edge in the 80s this last decade was still better than the 80 devil's decade ever was
