  1. No disrespect to Dunleavy, but RJ is the sound of hockey for me. Never going to be the same without him.

  2. A living legend…." he shoots, he scorrrrrrreeees!!! Thank you sir for your many years of commentating!!!

  3. Loved seeing him in the corner during this game. Hope one day he will be brought in to call a cup final. I am realistic and know that chance is slim. It would have to be at home and for the final minute etc, but man would I lose my s**t

  4. RJ as my childhood, he’s the reason I fell in love with the Sabres. Such a sad moment seeing him go, but I’m so happy we ended his career off the right way, on a win. This group is going to change things in Buffalo, I just wish RJ still had some more years left in him. Thank you for everything RJ, you will be missed.

  5. Thank you RJ. I moved from Buffalo a quarter century ago, and sadly got away from hockey due to it not being overly popular here in Cleveland, but I listened to you and Ted and then, of course you and all the others who worked with you, most notably Jim Lorentz. You were PERFECTION, and we love you and will dearly miss you. Best of luck in the future sir.

  6. I may have relocated but RJ and Van Miller will always be the first two people I think of when I think of Buffalo…

  7. I hope Rick isn't one of those people that pass away not long after retirement

  8. Yeah who are they going to get to do it now please don’t tell me duff he has the most boring personality and voice in the world

  9. With all the passion this man put into his calls, one side of me is glad the Sabers never got the cup as of late (I don’t think his heart could handle the pressure), the other side wishes we could have heard the pure joy he would have conveyed had the team won the cup… Enjoy retirement, you earned it…

  10. So sad he's leaving. But so happy I got to see many many games in which he's called. What a legend. We love you RJ. You'll be missed.

  11. If Tom Brady can come out of retirement then I don't see why RJ can't either to call some playoff games.

  12. RJ is the soundtrack of my winter youth. We’d listen to the games anytime we were out at night, and I remember listening to so many exciting calls in the car together with my family. Love you RJ, thank you for all the memories! 💙💛

  13. I met him once after a game in Sunrise with the Panthers. It was Ryan millers rookie year but Marty Biron played that night. After the game, I walked around to the back of the arena where I saw a bus parked. There were no fences so I walked right up to the door and just then RJ, Jim Lorentz, and Ryan Miller walked out the door. I was stunned for a moment as were they. I opened the conversation with where I was from and I'm a big fan and they saw the Hasek jersey I was wearing and it got less awkward in a hurry. Had a 20 minute conversation with those 3 guys and they all autographed my puck. It was the greatest Sabre moment of my life. RJ shook my hand and said, "Thanks for being a fan". Then got on the bus. Will never forget that night as long as I live.

  14. He forgot to pause five seconds along the network for station…..IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIdentification.

  15. I feel terrible for everyone in attendance who weren’t able to hear him call the final goal as it happened live on television. It was a moment us tv watchers were incredibly lucky to hear live.

  16. It was an honor meeting you today. Thank you for everything rj. You truly are a hero for me and it was a dream come true
