I think they can. Even if the goalies are mediocre. They’ll still make noise. The front lines are still scary to play against.
Y'know… if they trade Engvall, who has no trade protection in his contract, and move Robertson to his spot, there's your 1.4 million they need for Liljegren. Sad part is, Leafs won't get full value for Engvall in a trade, as we've seen with other teams making deals for cap space. Cap space has become a hot, and expensive commodity. But looking at it, the numbers line up nicely, and in that roster I think Engvall might be the most expendable player.
If the new goalies play solid, like the pre-season, then I think this team is better than last year. The bottom 6 is definitely improved, faster, more physical + reliable D from all, with better offensive upside. Barring injury, I think this group has evolved & will go deep in the post-season. We'll know what they are by the 20 game mark.
And yes pk was 8th but doesnt take into account the impressive number of shorthanded goals they scored. Pk is aggressive
You mean win the Rocket 🏆 for the THIRD straight season. Answer is definitely
Hey Nick, great video.
If the Leafs don’t make it past the first round, who do you think is most on the chopping block: the players, Keefe, or Dubas?
Also, I might be in the minority, but I think Toronto took a major step back compared to last season.
I think there's a lot of possibility. The top 6 remains really good. Malgin or Roberston (if the former doesn't work out) should fit into that group just fine and provide a lot of offense. They've got a group that looks good for a shutdown line and the third line should be effective. The blueline looks fine. Goaltending is a question. But it was a question last year. So we'll just have to wait and see there.
Really does feel like a year where it really needs to happen. If they can just get through a round it should click into place to go much further. But they've got to actually do it.
